I stumbled across this video quite by accident, but after watching it, I just couldn't not post it here. To be honest, I think I would have felt guilty if I did not.

If evil triumphs because good men do nothing, and ignorance the root and the stem of every evil, then perhaps I will have done some good by speaking out against this horrific atrocity.

Watch the video, and look at the pictures.

Warning: The video isn't graphic, but the pictures that I've linked to below, are, quite frankly, horrific. This isn't CSI we're talking about, with fake dead bodies, these are real human beings. Dead babies that have been murdered. Living souls that have been snuffed out like so many candles. Tiny hands that will never grasp, little hearts that will never beat again.

Unless you're prone to squeamishness, I strongly advise looking at the images, but also taking care while you do so. They are not pretty. They're sobering, they're shocking, and they're thought-provoking. I know it's not fun to look at dead babies, but I think we need to see this.

I do know that a lot of people don't believe that abortion is murder, because a fetus isn't a baby, right? It's not a human being, it's a "fish" or some other such entity. Right? Well, you take a good look at these pictures, and then you tell me what abortion is.

This is what "a woman's right to choose" is. And this, and this, and this. This baby was beheaded.

without a doubt one of the sadest things i have seen in a while. Thanks for posting it up.

the word embryo is referred to as a clump of cell. when more or what you have linked to is shown, maybe in time people will realise it is indeed a life that looks like a human in a mini form will sink in.

I don't understand this because many women who can not have a baby so desire.
And when a woman can give birth to a child, but kills him - this is not correct.
But on the other hand, for example we have in Russia, in the villages, many who have given birth, but can not then provide the children.
Children curse their parents for their poor childhood and growing up is not very good, both materially and spiritually.
so this is a controversial issue.

P.S.Sorry, I can make mistakes in grammar

Don't worry about your grammar, I see plenty of born-and-raised Americans who don't make an effort to speak proper English. ;-)

That is horrible and distressing. My church (Eastern Orthodox) has always recognized that life begins at conception and to think anything else just doesn't make sense to me.

On the other hand, I will just say this--the right to live without being abused and killed horribly does not end with bith. I'm NOT accusing you of this mindset but I have seen it sometimes--we (Christians, I mean) advocate for the unborn but ignore the other horrors that go on. Not that we need to stop advocating for the unborn children, just that we need to also broaden our horizons.

Also, that we need to really understand the situations that women are put in which lead them to have abortions. Sure, some people are selfish and cold hearted and just want to avoid dealing with children but there are many more who honestly think it's their only option or who, heartbreakingly, are forced to have abortions by parents, boyfriends, or husbands. Have you ever read Real Women, Real Choices by Frederica Mathewes-Green? It's a wonderful examination of just this issue without being anything but pro-life.

Again, NOT accusing you of either of these mindsets, just contemplating what we as Christians could do better.

You are 110% right, and thank you for bringing it up. A lot of Christians have the habit of "starting" something, but not finishing it. At a conference I attended recently, they were discussing how the church is so focused on "getting people saved" that it's failing to equip believers past the "trust in Jesus!" stage, and we're reaping the effects of that.

Nope, I haven't read that. I take it that it's something you liked?

Honey, those pictures are fakes, it takes much longer to the baby to develop...

You can read more information about it here:

I defend the right of very woman as do with her body as they want, though I don't think I could get an abortion myself...

So are you saying these pictures are fabricated, as in fake babies, or are you calling them fake because certain pro-life groups have (mis)labeled a baby as a few weeks older?

I find it very interesting that your "proof" of such allegations comes from pro-choice websites, which clearly have a motive in discrediting the pro-life camp.

I defend the right of very woman as do with her body as they want

So do I, but abortion is not just about the woman's body. There are two bodies in question, and the rights of the helpless are being trampled for the sake of expediency or whatever excuses can be drummed up. If there is no rape, incest, or "threat to the mother" involved, then how on earth does a person justify something like this??

My parents used to take me to Pro-Life rallies all the time when I was little because they had no babysitter, so I was exposed to the horific atrocities early on. I know the sick reality of abortion. I've seen the pictures. For years they gave me nightmares when I was young. The last time I went to a rally, I saw the pictures and afterwards couldn't eat for a whole week or maybe more. It would crush me when I'd see so many people drive by in their cars and not even flinch at the sight of those pictures. I, an extremely sensitive person, cannot understand how people can be so cold, so heartless. It breaks my heart. And I'm so sick of the excuse that "It's just pregnancy tissue". Ugh, it just makes me sick!

Hooray for Lauren who's standing up for what's right!

Not watching, because I do happen to be very squeamish to those sort of things. But it really bothers me when my friends discuss abortion as if it's just tissue to be disposed of. I'm sorry but unless you were sexually assaulted or you yourself are going to die due to the birth, then I think the person shouldn't get a "jail free" card and given an abortion. They should have thought about the consequences before having unprotected sex.

Not watching since it deeply disturbs me to see images like this. I just wanted to comment that I think it's commendable that you gave the warning before linking to the video. I have absolutely no problem with people speaking out against abortion or protesting, but there is a certain pro-life group in my state that shows these images on the side of a trailer they drive around city streets, no warning, no explanation, just pictures of aborted fetuses. By contrast, there is another pro-life group that buys billboards that show living babies or babies still in the womb, which I think is far better for communicating a message of life to the public.

Well, even though I think every person who supports abortion seriously NEEDS to see those photos, I'm not going to shove them under someone's nose.

There is a place for both, I think, and sometimes the horrific images are called for. We aren't going to prevent wars by showing happy smiling people out on picnics, but images of the atrocities of war might. Pictures of fluffy kittens and cute baby peeps aren't going to keep people from abusing animals, but bringing to light pictures depicting cruel treatments and injuries sustaining from those abuses might. Likewise, pictures of adorable babies aren't always as effective as the aftermath of an abortion.

Their founder (of Planned Parenthood), Margaret Sanger, once said, "the most merciful thing that a large family does to one of its infant members is to kill it."

Life may not be perfect, but it is beautiful enough to allow each person to live it. I really don't understand how people can support this.

Date: 2009-03-12 09:33 pm (UTC)
From: [identity profile] madame-faust.livejournal.com
I just feel like I should clarify this quote. Margaret Sanger was not a proponent of abortion. She was actually very much involve in the female contraceptive movement. Another quote of hers, from her work Women's Struggle for Freedom, is, "It is apparent that nothing short of contraceptives can put an end to the horrors of abortion and infanticide." She was trying to make the argument that birth control, as a means of preventing pregnancy before life is formed, is preferable to families having more children than they can afford to feed. That was what led her to make the original quote, she was stating that it is a horrifying reality that families, dealing with more children than they can care for, the greater mercy would be to kill any children who come into the family. She was actually very much anti-abortion during her lifetime.

I am very very psensitive to this topic, because one of my greatest friends was a product of a rape, and her mother had to choose between abortion or adoption. She obviously chose adoption. I mean if you are sexualy abused and raped I....I'm just not sre in that case but it's sick how women just keep having abortions because they're too lazy to take care oftheir woman hood and their sense of self worh by waiting bto have sex.

That's wonderful that your friend's mother chose to allow her baby to live, and you're right about people being too lazy to give up their lifestyles in order to raise children.

I've been meaning to comment but never a moment...for this I am sorry....I guess because its so horrible...

I know this is not much...

I just wish things like this didn't exist.

I knew a girl in HS who had 6 of these just because she didn't want to spend her money on protection...she perferred using it on cigarettes...drugs... :^/ Recently I saw her and she has two kids.

Now when I went to college I met a girl who was a wonderful girl...she got pregnant and lost her baby due to a mischarge luckily she has had two beautiful twins boys now....

Thinking these two was very odd when I thought about it...if that makes sense. I was like wow..sometimes it just shocks me that someone who was so thoughtless about life...never sufffered the pain of a mischarge (not that I would wish it on someone...not trying to say that..) went on to have kids even after all of her choices....and the other who took care of herself as best she could did. Just horrible.

And I suppose in the end I'm just glad both have happiness in the end.
