Girly post!
Aug. 14th, 2008 08:47 pmIf you're reading this and you're a guy, spare yourself some pain and don't read any further. Girls, guess what I got yesterday? SHOES! :-D (see, I told you guys not to look!!) lol.
Yesterday, due to Spencer's taking another test (he passed btw, coughHOORAYFORMYBROTHERcough) my mom and I decided to head over to a Nordstrom's Rack to use up a giftcard that my dad got from work, and gave to me. After a little browsing, (I headed straight for the shoe department, ha ha) two darling pairs emerged and begged to be taken home. They were less than half off, so I complied. ;-P I also took pics of them to share:

Say hello to my new black t-straps! I just love these, they are so Vintage looking. They remind me of something from the 20s or 30s. ♥ It makes me want a swing-type dress to go with them, lol!

These are very similar to the t-straps, only they're pumps. The color is very interesting, almost a cordovan with a reddish-brown tinge. I think I smell a tweed or plaid skirt in the future...

I had trouble getting this image to come out, in the afternoon light. And I should have taken a shot of the soles, because they're almost as beautiful as the uppers! They have a lovely floral almost brocade-like design in addition to delicate stitching and details that are only able to be fully appreciated in person. Oh well.
I'm not sure how many of my readers care about shoes, but as I always enjoy entries about "loot" and I haven't blogged about them in over a year, I'm doing it anyway. *folds arms and points nose in the air*

Date: 2008-08-15 04:16 am (UTC)Maybe I won't bother in the future.
But when you say,"don't read any further" what do you expect a self-respecting guy to do? Comply? NO WAY!

Date: 2008-08-15 04:19 am (UTC)You should have seen Spencer's face when he found out I'd photographed my shoes and sent them to our grandma.
Ahem. It's called deliver us from temptation...

Date: 2008-08-15 07:31 am (UTC)What brand are those? I might have to see if I can find some pairs for myself.
What is the sole of those shoes made of? Is it synthetic like plastic or rubber, or is it leather?

Date: 2008-08-16 03:03 am (UTC)They are Pikolinos, and the style is Cuba. Obviously they're black t-straps...you would not believe how many shoe department employees I talked to today have no idea what that is!! I got one guy who thought a heel was a flat. I think they're clearanced out or rare or something, because let me warn you upfront I had a hard time tracking them down!! I have the item number and price that I can email to you if you would like me to. They said on the phone that the info was helpful.
I'm not sure if it's leather, but I think it is. I honestly don't think they're plastic, and they're not rubber. They looked like tooled leather.

But nice shoes! I do enjoy a new pair, myself; there's nothing like the look and feel of something fresh on oneself, and shopping is half the fun. ^_^

Date: 2008-08-16 01:52 am (UTC)I LOVE these! They're ADORABLE! :D Aren't vintage-y shoes The Best? I have a pair of leather ankle boots that I love to death that pass both as Colonial boots and pointy-toed boots to go with jeans. *hugs shoes*
I don't know what it is about shoes. I have a ton of pairs, even though I usually just wear flip-flops. >.< But I always love looking at the shoe sections!

Date: 2008-08-16 03:15 am (UTC)YES!! Vintage-y shoes are TEH BESTEST EVAR! ;-D And boots are the next-bestest, lol. Although my feet don't look good in pointy shoes, I adore heels....
I've been wearing a lot of Birkenstock sandals and Sketchers of late, because it's just easier and more comfy. But if we're doing anything, I waste no chances in wearing something with a heel! ;-)
I bet you'd like my b&w gingham ballet flats.

Date: 2008-08-18 05:17 pm (UTC)I think I prefer the black ones, too, only I'm planning on wearing them with patterned tights! Ribbed, fish-nets, opaque, grey solid, etc. ;-)
