A quick question for everyone...
May. 24th, 2007 12:59 amHow many of you would be interested in color bars (or love bars, or whatever the heck they're called!) if I made them for various subjects? I've seen so many people using them, and I'd like to know if they'd be worth my time.
Here are two samples:

These are my first, but feel free to use them if you'd like. Just comment and credit as you would an icon, please! :-)

Re: Colour bars- Northanger Abbey
Date: 2007-06-11 04:04 pm (UTC)Yes; I hoped to find your biography on ROP too but no luck. ;-)
I was so glad to see your post on NA board; I know exactly what you mean- a small yet bustling board with regular and semi-regular posters.
Tell you what, if you post a discussion question, I'd be happy to post you a response.
Currently we're safe to have text discussions without 'intesting theories' on subtext. lol ! so let's hope the bustle keeps up.
I must admit these are collective views on NA2 rather than my original thoughts.
Thankyou for your generous offer of help, I do appreciate it :) but currently, I'm a member of other communities.
For the time, I'll remain a visitor.
Nice to chat with you and hope to see you soon. :)
Re: Colour bars- Northanger Abbey
Date: 2007-06-15 08:25 pm (UTC)Oooh, nice idea! Thank you! I'll do the same for you! We NA fans need to stick together, anyways. ;-D
Not at all. ;-) I completely understand not wanting to get too involved in yet another e-community! I have a membership over at C19 but I hardly ever go there, because I just haven't the time. Do you go there at all?
Nice to chat with you, too, and you are a very welcome visitor. :-D
Re: Colour bars- Northanger Abbey
Date: 2007-07-25 05:24 pm (UTC)Hi, back again. Please tell me what C19 is, as I may visit it for fun.
Love your Regency hair-do instructions;
I recently cut my hair at shoulder-length but false plaits aren't a bad idea...Kate B. wore false hairpieces for Emma 3.
Now intial fuss on NA2 has calmed down and a certain 'interesting' poster ;-) appears to have quit ROP; some NA posters are trying to re-create the NA board as before- bustling yet cozy. Now ROP has resumed; love to see you on the NA board !
A couple of discussions have begun. :)
Re: Colour bars- Northanger Abbey
Date: 2007-07-25 08:51 pm (UTC)This is C-19 (http://c19.proboards53.com/)
Thank you! I simply love Kate Beckinsale's hair in Emma. :-D
You don't mean me, now do you? I haven't quit RoP -- I've posted some on Ramble and Emma, and when I last checked the NA board there wasn't anything to speak of. I would NEVER quit RoP!! I missed them too much during the hiatus! lol! I've remedied that now...
Re: Colour bars- Northanger Abbey
Date: 2007-07-26 09:57 am (UTC)Hi again, Elizabeth. :-)
Oh, dear me No. I realize you usually do occasionaly ROP posts; Please don't quit ROP or the NA board.
I can't say much but another poster was disrupting NA discussion (and all of ROP) but he's gone.
NA discussion and chat can resume.
You didn't have to post to me but I really appreciate your NA post, thanks. :)
Just out of interest, I see Valancourt Books are a member of Live.Journal. Do you collect the Northanger Canon they are publishing ? I do.
Elizabeth, hope to see you again on NA board soon. Nice to chat again.
You know, i nearly lost my way to Live.Journal but I'm glad I found it again.
Now to visit C19th and thanks for link.
Cheers ! Mandy.
Re: Colour bars- Northanger Abbey
Date: 2007-07-26 08:52 pm (UTC)Do you perhaps mean a certain "A.P."? If so then I'm glad to hear it.
No, I am not currently collecting those, but that doesn't mean I won't in the future. ;-P I am however interested in finding a matched set of all JA's major 6 works with Brock illustrations -- I don't suppose you know of a publisher?
I'm glad you found it, too! Enjoy C19 -- they're big North & South fans. ;-) Have you seen that yet, Mandy?
Adios!
Re: Colour bars- Northanger Abbey
Date: 2007-07-27 05:49 am (UTC)Bingo ! A. Pest has left. ;-)
Dents, London were the original publishers of JA's works with the Brocks
illustrations...I don't know if there has been any recent re-publishing of Jane's works with Brocks pics.
However, ebay and Abe often have the novels with Brocks pics published circa 1900, at different prices and different condition; if that is any help.
Just out of interest have you visited http//www.solitary-elgance.com ?
Heather L has an interesting showcase of
JA Brocks and info.
Glad you enjoyed your holdiay and have a good weekend. :)
Re: Colour bars- Northanger Abbey
Date: 2007-07-27 06:38 am (UTC)This may sound very wicked...but I'm quite relieved! Mr. A.P. Troll was getting out of hand.
Thanks for the Brock info -- and yes I know about solitary elegance. Heather's great!
Ditto, and TTYL!
Re: Colour bars- Northanger Abbey
Date: 2007-07-29 04:44 am (UTC)Hey again Elizabeth ~! Meant to say, I read Mrs Gaskell's Wives & Daughters and North & South ages ago. I took W&D on video out of my library, lovely series...an example of what AD gets right. :-) But have yet to view N&S.
Exactly so ! A. Pest behaved liked a troll. Nor did I appreciate Pest's ridiculous theories on subtext domineering ROP. ;-) Ah well, he's behind us now so won't mangle anymore group reads either. See you at ROP soon. :)
Re: Colour bars- Northanger Abbey
Date: 2007-07-30 04:58 am (UTC)You know what they say online about A.Pests....."don't feed the trolls!"
TTYL and see you @ RoP too! :-D
