On Saturday, while grocery shopping, I noticed a large sign left over from Mother's Day advertising roses. It said that 1 Dozen roses meant 14 stems. :-\ I guess a dozen is no longer 12?

And when we got home, I was sticking my dad's TV dinner in the microwave, and upon reading the packaging for the directions, I saw that it claimed "Ready in 10 minutes!" all over the bag, but the actual heating directions said to cook for 8 minutes, stir, cook for another 3, and then let stand for 5!!! (and just in case any of y'all can't add, 8 + 3 + 5 = 16!!!!!) It's little wonder people in this country are so stupid!! Argh!

Does anyone else find this as excessively diverting as I did? ;-)

Thirteen, I could understand -- baker's dozen, after all. Fourteen just doesn't work.

My goodness!! To what do I owe this honour? I didn't even know you read my blog! ;-P Thank you for the comment!

I know! 13 is kind of accepted for a dozen, even though I used to think it was just because bakers couldn't count. ;-P

*brain begins to hurt*

It's funny and painful, and the left side of my body gets numb when I think about it.

Maybe it was originally a dozen roses but they added two more because they wanted to get rid of them before Mother's Day.

However, the microwave dinner is false advertisement and they could get sued for it.

Although the person who files the suit really, really needs a life.

LOL! But then one could say the same of me, for taking the time to blog all this in the first place. ;-) It's false advertising, and a lie. I guess someone should go over to Bertolli and teach them first grade math!

Hmmm...I suppose that could have been it. But then why didn't they just say you were getting a "free gift" of two extra roses? They also didn't say it was a post-Mother's day sale -- I think the sign was leftover from last week.

I thought of that!! ;-) But then I'm a big dork in that way.

Yeah, although someone pointed out that it's pretty silly that someone would sue false advertisement is nothing to mess around with. I'm kinda glad that there are all of these laws about it because of allergies to certain foods, etc.

I agree. That kind of lawsuit is not as frivolous as say, that woman sueing MacDonald's because she burned herself with their hot coffee when she tried to drive with it between her legs. *rolls eyes* That person needs a life!
