Well, it's all but unanimous. My proposition of a "Painting of the Week" series on my blog was very well received with 50 votes for yes. ;-) I know it's impossible to provide "gems" each and every week, but I certainly hope to find some things that not everyone, myself included, are familiar with! God, I love how he managed to capture the sheen of the fabric and that HAT. Oh god, that hat. One of my favorite thing about Copley's portraits is the way he captures the people depicted. You always feel like you're looking at a person, not a clothes hanger.

LOL, I know, isn't it brilliant? And you're right about Copley, but for me, the fascination never ends with how he managed to exactly capture the luscious sheen and luster of satins and silks. *shakes head in admiration* That man was talented!
