These are some samples of the kind of jewelry that I make every now and than when I get the chance. These are two of my more recent examples, and I thought it might be fun to share them. I took these photos a while ago, but haven't gotten around to posting them until now.

The first two are of a pair of garnet earrings, inspired in part by some ancient Roman jewelry I saw in a book once. (and yes that's my hand in the second photo, lol). The last picture is a bracelet of green faceted glass with sterling silver spacers, strung on elastic cord. I made earrings to match, but I don't like how they turned out, but I love wearing the garnets with all black!

Yeah, green is my favourite colour, and it looks really nice with the silver bits.

I do think! It couldn't hurt to give it a shot. If you wanted to, you could set up a seller account through paypal for free, so you wouldn't lose money in trying.

Mine too! Except for clothing, then it's black.

Well I thought about eBay, to be honest, but there are sooo many other people doing it, I don't think I'd stand a chance.

Have you thought about Etsy (http://www.etsy.com)? I haven't signed up because I make huge expensive things, but little jewelry stuffs like these are just the thing.

I would totally wear the garnet earrings. Like, every day. Just sayin'. ;)

I'm not at all familiar with Etsy. Are they like eBay? I'd probably just do it there, if I did decide to sell things.

Is that a hint??

Etsy is more of a storefront type thing than an auction type thing. Instead of bidding on stuff, you just purchase it. The novelty is that it's all handmade stuff, though, so you get all sorts of different artists and crafters and such selling original pieces to people who are genuinely interested in things like that and who are interested in supporting "small time" artists, rather than huge commercial establishments. Other than that, I gather it works a little like ebay in that you pay a small fee to list items and then I think maybe Etsy gets a cut of your sale? I don't know; I don't sell stuff.

Yes, yes it was a hint. Get thee to Etsy!

I read a little bit of their About page, and they said they charge a percentage, kind of like a sales tax.

If I sold on eBay and not Etsy, would you buy there?

I don't have an account on either, currently, but I'm much more likely to buy from Etsy than I am to sign up for Ebay. It's a smaller, more intimate community and I'm all about supporting people I know. Case in point--I commissioned a miniature of my sister from my good friend [livejournal.com profile] lachwen, I'm planning on purchasing/commissioning a watercolor from another friend of mine...I'd much rather give my money where I know it's needed/appreciated/will go to good use than to someone I don't know now and never will. :)

Yes, I have LOTS of black clothing. I like either black or really colourful (my pink pants are my fav, hee hee).

Well, you could always open an Ebay store for a little while and rely on word of mouth from friends and whatnot. I mean, I'd certainly buy something like your green bracelet.

Me too, me too! I'm trying to build up my browns, too, since that's a neutral and it looks good on me. Turquoise is my bright of choice. ;-P

Wow. I mean the thought had occured to me, but I never thought about selling to my online friends. I'm definitely going to think on this one! :-D
