olde_fashioned: (Medieval -- Stitching the Standard)
[personal profile] olde_fashioned
A bunch of icontest entries this time, mostly of various eras in art (Medieval, Regency, and Victorian) but also of flower stock as well as some of Millais, EB Leighton, Dicksee, Alma-Tadema, and Mucha. I've also included a pair of love banners; one of Medieval art and the other of Mucha. ;-)

As always, never alter my graphics, comment, credit, and enjoy!

Please, if you take anything, be so kind as to take note of the numbers of the icon(s) you're saving, since I am always experimenting with my styles and I would like to know what people like best. (This helps me so I can make more!) The numbers are above the icons.

Well I'm Christian so automatically I think I'd be on their radar. 8-/ They Do Not like us over there. I believe you are forbidden to bring Bibles into the country, but I could be wrong about that.

Ach! I don't know any German except for "gutentag" (sp?) and "vilkommen" and "puppenwagen" or whatever. ;-P I know a lot more Spanish, but not enough to do anything with!! I could order food though -- burrito? Si! Pica de gallo, carne asada? No, no. Salsa? NO! Pollo? Si! *lol* ;-)

I'd love to go to Scotland -- at least they speak English there. But something tells me I might need a translator there, as well! ha ha.

I love textures!! I make most of my own brushes. Masks (I think...) are the black and white thingies, like notebook textures, that you screen over the picture. I'm pretty sure that's what I've got on Christy, here, unless I've been misinformed. ;-)

GIMP is what I use, and it has an animation feature. I think it blends it, because it Frankensteins an icon every time I try to make it move. *pouts*

Ah, yes, well, our friend is there officially as an English teacher, but off the record missions. When emailing her you have to be careful about what you use ("God" becomes "Father", "pray" to "yarp", etc.). As for the Bibles, you can bring a few, but not huge amounts to distribute. When we were there it was Easter and we had a small "service" at the hotel without being ousted or anything.

That's "Guten Tag," "wilkommen" and I'm not sure of the others. But at least you didn't start singing "Dankeh shaaaaaaaaaaaaane!" Agh, I can't stand that song. (Also, "Wunderkind" by Alanis Morisette as heard in Narnia.) I took three years of Spanish when I was little, but I only remember how to count to nineteen, a few colors, and "cat". French can go kill itself. Nine weeks in eighth grade was way more than enough. (Odd, considering I happily took eight years of German...)

I'd love to go to Scotland... or just spend an age in Britain in general.

I've never heard of GIMP until I was reading your comments and such. And I've realized since talking about this that I've done a lot of experimenting on images for other things besides icons. I make mix CDs fairly often, and make a cover if possible, so I've practiced on those, plus graphics for other sites. Most are just text and cropping (1 (http://img.photobucket.com/albums/v260/lady_mochrie/alskdjf.jpg) 2 (http://img.photobucket.com/albums/v260/lady_mochrie/banner2-1.gif) 3 (http://img.photobucket.com/albums/v260/lady_mochrie/bleeders1.jpg) 4 (http://img.photobucket.com/albums/v260/lady_mochrie/boy.jpg) 5 (http://img.photobucket.com/albums/v260/lady_mochrie/booksbanner.jpg) 6 (http://img.photobucket.com/albums/v260/lady_mochrie/cover.jpg) 7 (http://img.photobucket.com/albums/v260/lady_mochrie/gf2.jpg) 8 (http://img.photobucket.com/albums/v260/lady_mochrie/Untitled-1copy.jpg)). But there are a few that I feel are more complicated. But I might be wrong. (1 (http://img.photobucket.com/albums/v260/lady_mochrie/slytherinbanner.jpg) 2 (http://img.photobucket.com/albums/v260/lady_mochrie/morethanpractice.jpg)
3 (http://img.photobucket.com/albums/v260/lady_mochrie/garden_06copy.jpg) and the lolcat).

Note: you don't actually have to look at those or worry about them. I just put them there to maybe help explain what I meant.

Ahh, okay! I still wouldn't like even supporting tourism in a country that treats their fellow human beings like chattel.

I know a bit more Spanish than that, lol. But only little teeny sayings and stuff like that. I hate French!!

The entire U.K., IMVHO. ^-^

Well it's entirely free, and not quite as overwhelming as it looks once you get used to it. ;-D And there are plenty of tutorials to help get you started!

I looked. :-) You're off to a good start, methinks. ;-D

Understandable. :)

Hooray! Someone else who hates French! No one hates French. They're all, "It's the language of romance!" Argh! Italian is so much better. (But apparently really, really hard.)

;-)

Ditto! I hate the language, and have no fondness for their culture whatsoever. I am utterly baffled as to what the appeal is! I'm an anglophile all the way. *gaspshock*

heheh.

I'd like to go to Paris for one thing, and that is the Opera House. *is a dorky, dorky phan* I mean, if there, I'd see other things, but that's the only thing that calls to me! (Okay, I wouldn't pass up Versailles, either.)

See, everyone says German is a hacking and spitting while French is flowing and glorious, but I'm the other way. I think German is so beautiful! (And fairly easy when it comes to learning...) I don't really know anything of French culture, though, so... Germans I think I could take. Italians have lots of skeevy old men...

Maybe we should just stay in the UK.... :)

Heheheh!!! Have you seen the extras on the PotO DVD? (I'm sure you probably have) They visit a Paris Opera House in that. ;-D

I (humbly) agree that German is "hacking and spitting" but I think French is what I think Noah Webster called it -- the "baby talk of the nursery". ;-P lol.

All aboard for Britain!!!
