Don't. Laugh. You all are going to think I'm crazy wacko, but since this is my blog, I'm doing it anyway. ;-) "Despise me if you dare..."
Yesterday we went shopping, and of course I just had to check out the shoes...haha. They had some Skechers on sale (Bikers Luxe in black) that I've wanted since they came out last year, and my wonderful brother bought them for me! He's such an angel -- well he's so sweet anyway, not just when he buys me shoes! ;-) Here is a pic for those of you who care: click for pic
I wear mostly black anyway, and they have great support and are comfortable, so these will be very practical. They're kind of like a cross between ballet flats and running shoes, and they're rather flattering to my feet, which is always to be desired. ;-) Strangely enough, I had to go down a size from my usual 10. I guess these must run really large, or my feet shrunk overnight!! ;-)
In other news, we made it to the Friends of the Library bookstore today, and bought a stack of books. You can't beat magazines for a quarter and books for $1-2 dollars! I got a two-volume set of The Complete Sherlock Holmes to build up my Sherlockian collection, Sanctuary by Beverly Lewis which I read years ago and loved for some odd reason, and a couple old doll magazines. Like I need more stuff to read.
My brother Spencer had his usual mountain of knowledge to purchase, and it took both of us to carry it to the desk. ;-) You should have seen the librarian's eyes bug out of her head when she saw us!!

Date: 2007-03-04 07:15 am (UTC)I'm glad to know I'm not the only one with a Sherlockian collection. Mostly paperback to go with the rest of my collection of the classics...
you're fortunate to have a brother who shares in the love of reading. :)

Date: 2007-03-05 12:13 am (UTC)Another Sherlock fan!! Yay! ;-) I've only read the Hound of the Baskervilles so far and a couple short stories, but as you can see I intend to remedy that. ;-) What else is in your collection?
Blessed, I'd say!! ;-) He actually reads more than I do. Do you have any siblings?

Date: 2007-03-05 06:42 am (UTC)Yep. I went on a Sherlockian craze not several years a ago and just went mad in building my classics collection. So, I have a bunch of Sir Arthur's books, but I'd have to go back over it in order to tell you what I have...I had just went mad over Sir AC Doyle. :)
I have a younger brother but he's almost like a complete opposite. It has it's pros and cons. You're more fortunate in that area.
:)
Oooh, I forgot to ask, have you read 'the Man who Loved Jane Austen'? It's fun light reading on JA. There's a couple others...when go a collecting..I go wacky crazy collecting.
You know I just seen Carrie Underwood in a Sketchers ad wearing a gold version of the same shoe! :) Neat, huh?

Date: 2007-03-06 12:01 am (UTC)I haven't read tMwlJA...I'm not really into fanfic or sequels like that. I get irritated even when an adaptation changes the dialog a teeny bit. I'm a purist, I guess.
Really...that's funny! Have you heard Jesus Take the Wheel?
