(I picked this icon, but it was really hard!!! Almost a tie between the Boating Beauties on and my new Vigee-le Brun.)

Oh yes, after a while I got used to it. I only watched it once, so I can't really remember any costumes in particuler. I did like Esther's blue one she wore when she received Woodcourt's flowers. Many of Lady Deadlock's dresses were beautiful.

My Dad and I like Foyle's War very much. Most of them are pretty decent as well, so that is a plus. :)

Oh my, Mr. Thornton bad? Gracious...ummm no...a bit of a temper really, but certainly not womanizing or something like that. Oops did I spoil it? I hope not. He is a darling, and needs a hug several times in the ministries. *grin* And book.

I guess I just classify the Jack Sparrow Pirate movies as 'fantasy' the supernatural stuff is weird, I admit. But the swashbuckling, costumes and hilarity almost make me forget the weirdness.

I've seen one Horatio (The Wrong War) and haven't seen Master and Commander. Is it good?

While Gwen may have had some good intentions in providing for her family by marrying Grandcourt, it doesn't erase the fact of his mistress and children--nor that I think she wasnted to tame Grandcourt in a way, she loved having people wrapped around her finger and she thought she had him. But she didn't.*shudder* No girl deserves to be raped in a sense by her husband. Ick.

Lorna Doone...=) Carver is much nicer looking than John, but John certainly has a more honorable personality. Lorna was gorgeous and very sweet. :) I don't remember seeing Adian in Titanic (I have it edited.) I love seeing all the same actors in different period pieces. It's a riot.

I'm always on the lookout for a new period series to watch, and I love a good mystery, so I might try to hunt down some Foyle's at the library.

Well, someone told me he beats his employees, so I just naturally assumed...and no, you did not spoil it. ;-)

Who is that in your icon -- is that Christian Bale???? It looks like The New World, but I haven't seen that, so I don't know. I do not care for Colin Farrell, so that's pretty much why I haven't seen it.

What did you think of the Horatio you saw? It's fairly similar to M&C, so if you hated the HH then I suppose you might not like M&C. My own opinion of it is excellent, and it's clean if you don't mind a couple swear words, nothing excessive, but there is some brief violence, for they are at war, and people get hurt. The dialog is really great and very quotable, with some very amusing scenes. I would recommend it.

While the mistress and illegitimate children might seem like a big deal to us, it is a fact that many, many men did that kind of thing back then, so it was much more common and "overlooked" than it would be now.

I never did see all of Titanic, but supposedly he's a crewmember. If I ever see it again I'll keep an eye out for him.

I love spotting the same actors, too!! It *is* a riot! Especially when you get a film that has half a dozen of them, and you're like, "Oh look! Guess who THAT is??!" We do it all the time here, and it's great fun. In fact, Mr. Jarndyce was in one of the Horatio Hornblowers, and so of course I enlightened everyone else. ;-) haha .

I have one brother, who is two years younger than me, but many years wiser. ;-) I love him more than anything, and we are very close. What about your siblings? Do you only sisters or brothers, or do you have some of each?

I live in California, but I trust you won't hold that against me! ;-) Where do you live, might I ask? No pressure if you are uncomfortable with revealing that.

Thornton--Oh but he has a good reason, yes his temper flies a bit, but h'e partially justified. Otherwise (in my opinion) he is a lovely example of a literary gentleman. :)

Yes, that was Christian Bale as John Rolfe. I've never seen anything else with Colin Farrell (even though I've heard of his reputation.) He was decent in The New World. Very sweet, slow, gorgeous period piece. You'd probably like it.

I liked the Horatio I saw, it was enjoyable, he's very honorable.
I don't mind a few swear words, but the F word (and abuses of Jesus name) I avoid like the plague if at all possible.

And Imdb is very helpful if one is in any doubt over which actor is which and where he's been before. *grin* We do that as well, 'haven't we seen him/her before? Oh my shes..!!" Funny.

I have three sisters and two brothers. All younger than me. (I'll be 20 soon.) They are a lot of fun and work. *grin*

I live in WI...and I don't mind you live in CA. *grin*

Ah -- I see about Mr. Thornton. He gives someone a good thrashing when they deserve it, but it probably has to do with the plot. Say no more! ;-)

Yes, taking the Lord's name in vain is the worst, followed closely by the F word. :-P

IMDb is indeed useful!! I think it's funny to find something out before someone else, and then wait and watch for them to "catch on" and remember the person. ;-) Or I could say, "do you want to see _____?" "No!" "But so-and-so's in it...." "...they are?? Really?" You get the idea. (I told you I'm a dork!!)

Cute!!! Younger siblings are the best. I would have liked to have a sister, but I wouldn't trade my brother for a hundred sisters. May I ask their ages?? Little ones are especially cute. (Do you have to feed the boys -- lol)

I see we are basically the same age. ;-) I like to tell people "I am not yet one-and-twenty", because that's how Lizzy said it in P&P. ;-P

Thank you for your gracious acceptance of my living on the West Coast...you know they call us the Land of Fruits and Nuts, and for good reason. I promise not to make any cheese jokes. ;-)

I'm not that big on magazines, but I am aware of HC, but never heard of Inkblots. I've yet to read SMM, so sorry about that!! I love Stepping Heavenward, though. Have you read that?

Today I made icons for the first time in a long time. Much fun. :)

TNW made John Smith and Pocahontas rather sweet. I didn't like the idea either, but it's so sweet then mournful they almost pull it off. *g* I personally like John Rolfe and her's very gentle romance during the last hour of the movie. It is precious.

My youngest sibling is six, and she is much fun as well as the rest. :) We stamped cards today, all us girls and it was a lovely time.
Oh indeed, boys can be very hungry and they must be fed! :) They can cook themselves a fair bit, so that is helpful at times.

Inkblots--is a literary magazine from a Christian perspective. I've enjoyed it very much, especially the issues on Jane Austen, Literary heroines and heros. :)

Stepping Heavenward, I read several years ago, and liked it to some point. I can't remember very much of it.

I should start coining that Lizzy phrase as well, very cute. :)

How old are your brothers? Mine is 18, and he's always hungry. ;-) He can handle himself in the kitchen, but I try to do it for him mostly, because I feel mean. ;-)

As to your question, I didn't hate it, but I didn't care for it very much, either. There were too many things wrong with it; namely, the deviations from the novel, the sculpture gallery garbage, the costumes weren't as accurate as they should have been, and I do not like Keira Knightley, and Donald Sutherland is irritating and American. I am also convinced that Joe Wright has no respect for a literary adaptation, and he was so caught up in making things "pretty" or symbolic that he missed the whole point of the film. I did like some of the scenery, but after watching the commentary, they were discovered to be CGI, which spoilt it for me. ;-) I did think Tom Hollander made a great Mr. Collins, and I rather liked Rosamund Pike as Jane. What did you think of it?

If I don't think of P&P as P&P...weird huh, it's sweet, clean and pretty. Kiera isn't my favorite either. I liked Darcy though! :) And you are right, Mr. Collins was brilliant, and Jane was beautiful and sweet in this version. =)

Oh, yes!! Now I've got my brother doing it!! ;-) Our desktop wallpaper on the family computer now rotates between Jane Austen flicks and war movies....lol.

I do most of the cooking here, too, and all of the baking, which I don't do as much of as I used to, since we moved into a smaller house with a smaller kitchen.

How do you feel about cleaning whole chickens?? I used to think it was disgusting, but it's actually not as gross when you're the one doing it, versus watching someone else.

Keira is way too modern, plus I think she's too skinny. Her hair wasn't very period, either, and I resented the tomboy-ification of Lizzy's character. I thought the boiled potatoes line was priceless, as was the Collins-nearly-getting-brained-by-Darcy's-elbow routine. LOL!! I was pleasantly surprised at MM's Darcy -- he wasn't as bad as I thought he was going to be. ;-) You know who he's married to in real life?

I still prefer the '95 Firth/Ehle P&P hands down!!! Just watched it the other day (for the millionth time) in fact.

No, what is "Mother"? I've never heard of it, at least I don't think so.

Have you read Northanger Abbey, or seen the movie?
