For the record, I am utterly opposed to Harry Potter and other books involving and glorifying witchcraft. THIS is a link to Doug Phillips' blog, that explains the dangers of Harry Potter much better than I ever could.

That, (I'm not catholic) also was a very good article I thought. Balanced, and perhaps more approchable for those who are already into HP.
Interesting stuff. :)

Date: 2007-07-28 04:03 pm (UTC)I myself, don't read the books or watch the movies, but the elder sister of the little girl I nanny, is quite taken in with the books and we do discuss them, at the moment I'm curious to know if Harry will die or not. She knows that I don't like them, but I should not and cannot shun her just because she likes them. It's been an interesting balance to be sure. :)

Date: 2007-07-28 08:54 am (UTC)I did note his remarks about Willow in Buffy and the girls in The Craft showing witchcraft as 'harmless'. Still when he wrote this in 2001, Willow hadn't descended into near madness from her experiences and perhaps he hadn't taken on board the cautionary aspects of The Craft.
I'll look up his other articles on LotR too.

I take it you are a LotR fan? Which was your favorite of the 3?
God bless!
