The book is waaay better than the mini, and even though they changed the characters I did like Ruth Wilson and Toby Stephens as Jane and Rochester.

Lucky you! We don't get Robin Hood on our PBS for some reason. *hmph* I want to see what all the fuss is about!

Thanks for the link! However I have the unfortunate circumstance of having only dial-up at my disposal, and I'd be downloading eppys until Christmas. :-( I'll look and see if Netflix has them, though!

I did hear that about the costumes -- that's one of my pet-peeves in costume dramas, but oh well!! (how bad are they??)

You can visit my LJ I have a couple pics of Robin and Marian! Robin wears a leather hoodie and Marian occasionally wears pants under her dress! Oh and there is an atrocious yellow sweater that Marian wears once! Lol! The DVD's don't come out in America until June 5th! You don't have BBC America do you? :(

I did briefly, but all I saw was Harry Potter.

A hoodie?!!?? Oh dear. I may not like this one!! What is wrong with doublets and armour and tunics, I'd like to know!

What does Richard Armitage wear? Is he the Sheriff of Nottingham or Guy of Gisborne? Sorry, I forget.

I don't know -- we get Masterpiece Theatre, and Brit Coms like As Time Goes By and Keeping Up Appearances that say BBC America, but I don't understand why we never get North & South or RH. *pouts* At least we're getting the new ITV Jane Austens, but we have to wait until November...

Okay, thank you! Since I've never seen it I have a hard time keeping it straight. Black leather sounds good! I've seen more pics of him around than anyone else, and his costumes don't look so horrible. I love browsing through medieval costuming catalogues -- which give me an idea: you might get a kick out of this! (http://www.museumreplicas.com/)

The North & South that I'm referring to is a mini-series (that I've never seen) based on a book (that I've never read) about the North and South of England, by Elizabeth Gaskell. Gaskell wrote Wives & Daughters which I've just finished, and I've got N&S the book on hold at the library. AND to confuse you further, there is a book about the North vs. the South in the American Civil War, which was also made in to a movie with Patrick Swayze, but I've heard it's unappropriate. THERE! Are you thoroughly confused now, or did you get all that?? lol!!

I've seen North & South the American version! Yeah there is some sleeping around in that movie but mostly by Patrick Swayze's characters sister Ashton! It was a mini series and some of the actors change but it's preety good! It was filmed mostly in South Carolina at Boone Hall Plantation which I have visited! The English version sounds good as well!
