So yours truly is now a bit of a sci-fi convert. Courtesy of my brother, I'm learning that science fiction doesn't have to always be space ships, aliens, and phasers.
My family has been going through a whole slew of things (some of which you might have guessed from my recent poll), including but not limited to:
Generally whenever I discover something new, I also learn that someone I already know already likes at least a few of those things that are new to me. Does anyone else find themselves enjoying costume dramas and science fiction? ;)
My family has been going through a whole slew of things (some of which you might have guessed from my recent poll), including but not limited to:
- the new Battlestar Galactica (OMG so good!!)
- the old Battlestar Galactica (OMG so bad!!!)
- Blade Runner (nice costumes and music)
- Firefly (yuck)
- The Matrix (double yuck)
- Gattaca (interesting concept)
- Jericho (very realistic and actually could probably happen)
- The Road (grim but well done)
- The Book of Eli (REALLY good)
- the Terminator series (Terminator: Salvation is the best)
- Tron and Tron: Legacy (visual appealing much?)
- recently started Primeval (loads of fun and really growing on me)

Date: 2011-04-08 11:54 pm (UTC)New Battlestar (sorry - verrrrry interesting concept and storytelling, but trippy)
Firefly (Loved River and the universe and humor)
Matrix (Um, they should have stopped at one)
Book of Eli (Well done)
Terminator (Really need to see Salvation - Did you get to see the Sarah Connor Chronicles??)
Primeval (Oh, such fun! Recently saw series 4, which is less fun but lots more human time travel, which I really liked and series 5 starts in May!!!)
My favorite series are:
Stargate SG-1 (much less political and serious, but I loved the characters and some of the concepts)
Stargate Atlantis (A lot of fun)
Fringe (I think you might find this interesting. No space travel yet, but time travel and pushing the boundaries of science and medicine, alternate realities, and some very fine acting from John Noble)
Eureka (pure silliness at times, lighthearted town full of scientists and researchers that a very down-to-earth average guy has to manage to keep from destroying themselves and the world - lots of alternate timelines)
Doctor Who (more new than old, though that is b/c of time and difficulty in acquiring the older ones - I would recommend Series 5 if you wanted to give it a try)
Frequency is a brilliant film with time travel elements (and clever at that). Very highly recommended.
