olde_fashioned: (NA1 -- Catherine blue hat)
[personal profile] olde_fashioned
Here are some icons I made using (my own!!!) screencaps from the 1986 Northanger Abbey film starring Katherine Schlesinger as Catherine Morland and Peter Firth as Henry Tilney. I *love* this movie, and since I worked so hard capping and learning how to cap, ;-) please do not steal these. They are *not* bases, but if you ask me I might allow it. I have more icons to come, but here are a bunch anyway.

As usual, comment, credit, and enjoy!

I haven't seen this movie yet nor, have I read the book. It sounds interesting though and because it's written by JA I want to see it.

Have you read the novel?

I read and adored the novel, and I thoroughly recommend it to anyone who hasn't. ;-) I would, however, suggest you read the book before seeing the movie. It does have its "oddities" and some people don't care for it, (Gothic, you know) and I wouldn't want it to turn you off to the book. Plus, there's a new one coming out, and then you'll have a good knowledge of the storyline, the better to be able to critique the new movie. ;-)

Took 2, 13, 17, 21, 28, 34. All are very "nice," however. ;-) Thanks a bunch!

Ooh, Northanger Abbey! I took 21 and 32. Will credit when I make room in my userpics. :)

Ah, yes...room in one's userpics. To delete or not to delete? That is the question. ;-)

I actually like this version, and these icons are lovely. I like Catherine's blue hat as well. 3, 4, 31, and 35 are my favorites. Good job! Do you think you might make some featuring Henry?

Well whaddaya know? Yet another NA1 fan!! ;-) I was beginning to think they were almost nonexistant here on lj.

Catherine's blue hat is fantastic, and I believe it is in the Museum of Costume at Bath, or at least their website says so.

Yes, I am making more, some with Henry in them as well. Sorry he's not in this batch, but I was in a hat mood, and his sugar-loaf isn't the best icon material. ;-)

What do you think of the 'more soup' scene?? ;-)

Hehe. No there are some here. I guess NA just isn't as popular as Jane Austen's other works.

Catherine's hat is lovely. She looks very pretty wearing it.

Oh goody! Yours are the first NA icons I've found. I'm glad you will eventually make more. :)

I don't know why not! I think it's lovely.

I love Catherine's blue hat...8-) I think it sets off her big blue eyes really well.

Yup, more to come! :-)

:o I didn't see these! Am taking the Birdcage. Is that something they made up (I can't remember there being one in the book)? Will credit, of course.

Did you order this DVD off of the net? I've never seen it in stores...

Yes -- the bird scene was made up. Catherine was lost in the Abbey before dinner, and Henry found her marvelling at a canary in a cage. She asked what it was, and said she'd never seen one before. Then Henry launces into his "have you a heart stout enough to bear the horrors of this place" speech. ;-)

I got it for my birthday, and I believe it was off of eBay, but it's sold over at Amazon.com as well. ;-) I've never seen it in stores, either. Our library has it, though. That's how I came to hear of it. :-)
