I guess reading Vogue magazine does have it's uses, after all! There is going to be a mini-series based on David McCullough's biography of John Adams. I hadn't the slightest clue! Not sure that I'm pleased with all the casting, and Tom Wilkinson has been good in everything I've seen him in, but Benjamin Franklin?! Honestly!

Can anyone say, yay 18th century fashions? :-D

I think I want Laura Linney's cloak when they're finished with it. *lol*

My LJ friend [livejournal.com profile] marcine works in Colonial Williamsburg, and was there while they were filming John Adams. She said it looked interesting, and the costuming was good.

Really!! How fun! I would give an awful lot to be able to go there someday. *wistful sigh* Only I would want to go in costume, hee hee.

We've been there twice, and loved it so much, and the timeshare we stayed at, that we bought a week timeshare there. I hope to go back soon, and have been working on my costume, since [livejournal.com profile] marcine wants to take me around in our costumes. :)

I have wanted to go there ever since I was little and read the American Girl Felicity books. *lol* Now that I'm older I really want to go!! ;-)

Do you have any pictures of your trip?

Yes I do. These are more of the houses and gardens I was interested in that year, but I also focused on the costumes, and the next year I interviewed some of them for an article in our guild's newsletter. http://www.pbase.com/cinnamonhrts/williamsburg_2004
The gown I want to make will be similar to my User Pic.

Oh oh oh!! Thank you! *presses nose to screen*

You wrote an article on them? That sounds exciting.

I'm pretty sure I've seen that gown before in my online forays for costume images. ;-) It's beautiful. Do you have your fabric yet?

Yes, I bought it last time I was in Los Angeles. http://www.pbase.com/cinnamonhrts/image/91490787 The background is kind of a cream color, and I wanted to do a white skirt but may end up doing a red one to match the flowers.

It's beautiful! There's something to be said for red and white. :-)

Couldn't you make two petticoats, and alternate them?

Just what I was thinking.

Ha ha ha. ;-D

Are you planning on polonaising it?

Don't think so, I like the flat look for that area of Williamsburg.

Yay, 18th century fashions!

You did ask.... ;-)

LOL! You are too funny Nathan.

Would you like some pink Jane Austen to go with your 18th century fashions?

Oh! Is that the biography that's really big with the painting on the front? I read part of it for my research project. Really good. (Just too long when I'm running around.)

Paul Giamatti seems like a good choice for John Adams, considering the latter's personality and looks.

Unrelated: I took advantage of being on this computer and have uploaded two pictures of my doll... They're pretty old pictures (from last spring--I did it at the very beginning of my photography class, which is why these pictures are awful) and I'm afraid you don't get quite the effect of her very, very long legs. But anyway. This is the doll I thought looked like one in the A&E P&P. Here (http://s223.photobucket.com/albums/dd158/amhollischolar/?action=view&current=IMG_0241.jpg) and here. Oh, she's darling!! I love dolls like that. Thank you for the pictures. Did you make her, or her dress?

(and btw -- pretty books! pretty books!)

No, I bought her (with dress) at a consignment store.

(^-^ I take pride in my old book collection--I even have a 1800's P&P!)

I had no clue about this either, my mom just told me about it today. I'm looking more into it now. :)
