olde_fashioned: (Hayley Westenra -- white sun)
[personal profile] olde_fashioned
I've been meaning to post this here for a week, but I've been somewhat busy. ;-)

For those of you who do not know, I am a mega Celtic Woman fan, (i.e. NUT) and that means that I now am a fan of Hayley Westenra as well. ;-) Her new album(s) was released earlier this month.

Here's the catch though -- the US version, which is about $13 at Amazon, has two songs from CW's A New Journey (which I already have) and it does NOT have like four songs that the UK version does. However, the UK version costs more than thirty bucks on Amazon, so alas! it's over to eBay we go. ;-)

You simply MUST listen to Summer Rain!! It's gorgeous.....

Sound clips:
Hayley's official site
Has an audio clip section at the left -- after one or two times it quits buffering, but if you're not dial up it might not act up.

US version on Amazon

UK/International version on Amazon
I wannie dis one!! *buybuybuy*

Gee, whaddaya know?? I just updated my blog without making an icon post...there's something for the record books...

I've one day left in Singapore - which usually gets the UK/International albums. Let me see if I can find it for you :)

Seriously though... you could buy me a book in exchange :) I've done it before for my friends.

I know you were being perfectly serious. :-) I would have to get permission from my parents, and to be honest with you, I don't think that'll happen. The word is as good as the deed, though, as they say, and I really do appreciate your offering!!

Please don't take it personally! I'm not trying to offend you! Please understand that. :-)

Understood :) The same would have been true for me when I was living at home. That said, I may pick up a copy of the album for myself!

Thank you!! *breaths sigh of relief*

LOL! Do let me know what you think of it, if you do. ;-) Are you a fan of hers and/or Celtic Woman to begin with?

I know how it feels to desperately want something but to not have any money! Maybe though I can cheer you up with uploading The Merchant at Venice (http://www.amazon.com/Merchant-Venice-Jocelyn-Pook/dp/B00068V37A/ref=pd_bbs_sr_1/102-6108650-3447353?ie=UTF8&s=music&qid=1174862298&sr=1-1). I have it at my local library. I think it has a song by Hayley Westenra. She really has a lovely voice.

BTW I love your icon.

BTW do know the names of the songs not on the American disc?

Thanks for the links, and I'm glad you liked the icon. ;-) I'll be posting a whole bunch more in the not-so-distant future. I didn't know you were a fan of Hayley's, but I'm not surprised. ;-)

Here are the different songs on the two discs -- I removed the duplicates, so you can see:

Celtic Treasure - US/NZ/AUSTRALIA

2. Scarborough Fair (on Celtic Woman ANJ)
8. The Last Rose Of Summer (saa)
11. The Water is Wide (this on Odyssey, I think, which I believe also has POTO songs)

Treasure (UK & International)

2. Le Note Del Silenzio
8. Santa Lucia
9. The Heart Worships
10. E Pari Ra
14. Bist Du Bei Mir

Thanks! I confess I'm rather ignorant of this type of thing. Am I supposed to buy this? It seems to want an QPI or something. Is this a sound clip?? :-/

No, all you have to do is enter in the letters and click download. It's the whole song. You should then be able to play it on Windows Media, iTunes, etc.

Thanks for sharing! But is that legal? Because I need trouble with the law like I need a hole in my head. 8-\

Uh not exactly but, I tried to buy and gift it to you via iTunes but I didn't know your e-mail address, or if you had iTunes.

lol! That's very sweet of you, but you needn't break any laws for my sake. :-)

I don't have iTunes. But thank you anyway!!

The reason it wants you to type in the letter is to make sure you aren't a spammer/generated computer.

i LOVE Celtic Women! :) Very enjoyable watching it on PBS...:)

Me too!! I first saw them on PBS, also. ;-) Have you seen their first special, or just the newer ANJ one?

I am so delighted that Hayley is coming out with a new cd! I just saw her with 'The Celtic Women' on PBS the other day and just loved it!
I hate it when they have special editions for different countries that have more songs!

As far as music goes I adore The Celtic Women,Josh Groban,Hayley Westenra,The Irish Tenors,Rebecca St.James,Michael Card,Russel Watson,Liberia,Aled Jones,etc.
As far as classical composers go I adore Handel,Bach,Mendelssohn and Mozart.Baroque is my favorite era of music.

Do you play any instruments? I play the piano and take voice lessons.

You and me both!! ;-) Did you watch CW on St. Patty's day? I'm such a nut that I went and taped it, so I can watch it over and over and over. lol.

I like Rebecca St. James, especially her Worship album. I love her Wait For Me song, and her whole campaign on that is wonderful IMO.

I like Handel, Bach, Mozart, and esp. Beethoven. Are you at all familiar with English Country Dancing style music? You might like it if you like Baroque.

Yes,I did watch it on St.Patrick's Day!That is so funny we were both watching it! We were over at a friends house and had just finished up watching 'Bleak House' and decided to watch 'The Celtic Women' while we ate our Corned Beef dinner!

I love Rebbecca St.James song 'Wait for Me'.Every-time I get discouraged and think their is no-one out there I remember that song.:)
So do you plan on dating or doing Courtship? I am going to do courtship.

I do love English Country Dancing style music! It is right up my alley.:)
Have you ever heard Renaissance music? I go a cd of it and love it!

I did not get to catch it that day, I had fully intended to, but something prevented it, and I don't even remember what it was now!

Jane Eyre was what was scheduled for us, but I loved Bleak House.

I know! That song is so wonderful, and -- I hesitate to use such a cliche phrase -- inspiring.

And as for there being "no one out there", somewhere there is Someone listening to that very song, thinking of how there are no girls out there. ;-)

I am going to do Courtship. Dating = yuck. ;-)

I listened to some Amazon clips of Ren music when I was picking my ECD cd's, and some of it was nice. But one cannot resist being reminded of the Netherfield Ball! ;-)

So you like the new Jane Eyre? I have not seen it but it sounds pretty good though I heard they tried to 'spice' it up some *bleck*.

I try to tell myself that their are guys out there waiting for girls like us and I know it is true, but I get sorely tried sometimes.Maybe they are all hiding out in England (yeah, right).:)

Courtship is so much better!

Date: 2007-03-30 03:10 am (UTC)
From: [identity profile] olde-fashioned.livejournal.com
Yes, I did like it. They did indeed try to "spice it up" as you put it, but there was no nudity. (I'll try to put it delicately) They had Rochester and Jane on top of each other kissing, *gag* which was TOTALLY out of character for Jane if you ask me, and one crude scene suggesting Bertha's unfaithfulness. Other than that, it was perfectly watchable.

Same here. ;-) I think it's rather easy to begin to despair, esp. when one is surrounded by morons. ROTFLOL about England!! ;-) Surely there must be a few here, although I confess I am such an Anglophile I would probably rather enjoy marrying an Englishman! ;-)

Yup, yup!! TLW!!

From: [identity profile] prima-donna87.livejournal.com
That is too bad they had to add stuff like that. Why do they have to ruin perfectly good movies by adding stuff like that?

Yes,marrying a English man is not at all a disagreeable.:) I have a friend marrying a Aussie and his accent is wonderful!:)

Have you been able to travel much?

Date: 2007-03-30 11:10 pm (UTC)
From: [identity profile] olde-fashioned.livejournal.com
Yes, it is. And the sad part is that no one thinks it's even wrong anymore!

I like Aussies. ;-) They're fun to listen to, but then so are all residents of the UK. ;-)

Nope. Not unless you count Arizona! I take it you have? I'd love to go to England someday though....*sighs dreamily*
