A survey of true Austenites is being conducted! The only requirements are that you must have read all six of Jane's major novels (Pride & Prejudice, Emma, Sense & Sensibility, Mansfield Park, Persuasion, and Northanger Abbey) and that you must consider yourself a sincere fan. ;-)

The results are being privately compiled in order to produce a report called "Anatomy of a Janeite" and may be published in JASNA materials.

I've already taken the survey, and you can participate HERE

Alas, I admit that I don't qualify: I haven't read Mansfield Park. I'm not even quite convinced that we've a copy.

Alas, indeed, but it's my least favourite...

Thank you! I made it, but haven't posted a batch with it yet. You can take it if you like.

I took it, even though I haven't read Mansfield Park all the way. *is a cheater* It didn't help that I've forgotten a lot of S&S's side-characters and didn't know much of MP's. But it was interesting.

Ha ha! I think Jane would forgive you. ;-P

Does this mean Mr. Palmer is not a favourite of yours?!! *gasp*

I think so too. I've read P&P, Emma and Northanger Abby enough to make up for it.

I can't remember who that is! I really am having a hard time remembering much of anything about S&S...I think I had company when I was reading it, or something was going on, because I read part of it in the bathtub (I make myself beds in the bathtub whenever I have company/am sharing a room, with pillows and a cozy blanket (obviously without water), so that I can read as long as I want without keeping someone awake) and then I remember reading a few chapters on an air-mattress in my mom's room. So perhaps I was too busy/tired to remember everything.

LOL! I've only re-read P&P, S&S, and now MP but I've read everything else once. I think Emma is the next RoP Group Read and I am very anxiously looking forward to a GR of my very favourite. ;-)

Mr. Palmer was the husband of Charlotte, Mrs. Jennings' daughter? He was always sarcastic and droll, but kind to Elinor when Marianne got sick. They left their home Cleveland because of their baby. (Have you seen the movie??)

Oh, maybe I should join in for that reading...I do love Emma. I've often thought I am more like her that Elizabeth Bennett, and Lizzy is my ideal girl.

OH! HOUSE actor plays him in the movie! Oh, yes, I loved him. (Dr. House in a top-hat! *dies*)

Oh yes, you really should!! I mostly just lurk, but the S&S GR was so much fun -- there is this lady named Julie W on the mod team and she is a veritable encyclopedia of Austenian knowledge. She'll post maps of the real cities mentioned in each chapter, give backgrounds on the references and "hints" that JA was so fond of dropping, and whatnot. It's delightful, IMO!

YES Hugh Laurie! I never watch House, but I think he's an absolute riot in S&S. I crack up at the mere sight of his face! ;-) Even my brother gets a kick out of him. ("Oh, if only this rain would stop!" "If only YOU would stop!")

Lol. Is that on olde and grey?

Haha! I've only watched House a handful of times (I'd love to watch it more if it didn't tend to be so rude/too-much-information), but he is an excellent dry-humor-grumpy-man. :)

No -- that's on the Pemberley.com Group Read board which is taken down when there isn't one currently in progress, but they will put up a notice on the link below when they're going to have the next one. ;-)

I took it! Unsurprisingly, Mansfield Park and almost anything to do with it was my least favorite everything.

I'm curious to see the results.

Me, too!

Awwww, I like Mansfield Park. Not as much as my beloved Emma, but as much as Persuasion and Pride and Prejudice. And it's the only one which doesn't have even a halfway decent film. So I love it completely on its own merits.

Oh, and I took it last week - and hope my answers skew that stereotype all the way. :-)

Now I never said I didn't like it!!!! I only said I liked all the others better. ;-) But you're right about it needing a decent adaptation!!

Hi! I added you as a friend a while back, hope you don't mind! I wish I could take the survey, but unfortunatley here in Argentina finding Jane Austen books in english isn't very easy! I've only got Pride & Prejudice for now, but some day I'll get more. Lovely header by the way! :)

Hi back, and no, I don't mind. ;-)

Can you buy from Amazon.com in Argentina? Sorry if that's a stupid suggestion, I just don't know anything about buying things in other countries! I could give you links for e-texts, if you would be interested in that.

Thanks! It's Too Early by Tissot, and it's one of my very favourites. :-D

Hi jazz_in_paris! If you live in Buenos Aires you can try to get Jane's books in english in KEL, I believe they have the six novels in Penguin Editions.
