Icons from Master & Commander: The Far Side of the World. You can blame
regency_stills for these! ;-) While I typically prefer movies with at least *one* woman in them, this is among the few exceptions to the rule. I cannot help but regard it as a sort of "what Jane Austen's naval heroes did when they weren't dancing at balls". LOL! Oh, and the costumes are faaabulous...
As always, please credit/comment if taking, and enjoy!

Date: 2007-12-15 07:41 am (UTC)Are you calling my brother a nerd? ;-) He most certainly is not, although he calls himself one sometimes. He is about as nerdy as I am -- if you think I'm a nerd then he would be considered one, too. But then I typically regard the term "nerd" to refer to someone's habits as opposed to their physical appearance...
Ah yes, the dinosaurs!! It's all my fault, you know. When I was reallyreally little I liked The Land Before Time and all that stuff, and I even had dinosaurs on my birthday cake one year. So I guess you can blame me for all that! lol!

Date: 2007-12-20 02:57 am (UTC)I used to collect dinosaur stuff like crazy when I was about ten or so; I stilL go to the natural History Museum in London and know what I'm looking at before I read the sign. Lately, I have learned to feign ignorance of the fact. I still love Walking with Dinosaurs though.no subject
Date: 2007-12-20 09:34 pm (UTC)Oh, oh, I think Walking with Dinosaurs is wonderful! I bought that for Spencer's Christmas some years back, and I alway enjoy watching it. Those little baby sauropods are adorable. *pause* It's always nice when the perfect gift for another is also very agreeable to one's self, mmm? lol. (and I happen to think that Kenneth Brannagh (sp?) has a very nice voice).
And as for knowing what I'm looking at, I can tell the difference between a Stegosaurus and a Triceratops, and I know it's T. rex and not T-Rex, and various other things I've picked up via osmosis. But when it comes to metacarpals, or proximal and distal ends of femurs.....!!!!!

Date: 2007-12-30 03:14 am (UTC)Last night we watched a tiny bit of W&D, the scene where Roger mentions comparative osteology? That describes Spencer to a T. ;-P But I love to hear him talk like that.
What do you mean, you don't know about me?!? Silly!! If you don't know me well enough BY NOW -- !! ;-) *lol*
