olde_fashionedSuch a good series!!! I remember discovering it by accident back when it originally premiered on PBS years ago, and despite being in the middle of the series and having to work incredibly hard to figure things out mid-stream, I was hooked. When the final episode aired I was very sick (could hardly keep my eyes open), but I couldn't not see how it ended!
That there will probably be other batches after this (it's so LONG!), but I wanted at least to get these ones up and public for all to share. ;)

Esther's practically a saint! And poor Mr. Guppy, lol! He needed to take a hint, but at least he didn't get all miffed and peevish once she refused him.
I've got the book, as well, but it's not at the top of my reading list. ;)

Though wasn't awkward the next time they saw each other? He was gentleman in the sense of knowing that he had to bow out. He knew where the line was....Poor Mr. Guppy, indeed. They were hardly a match.

Date: 2011-06-25 05:51 am (UTC)Yeah, she seemed to border on the saintly, and I suspect some of her more "spritely" moments were changes added in by Davies in an attempt to make her more appealing to a modern audience. Or at least, that's what they usually do...
Not a good match even by the largest stretch of imagination, I'm afraid!
