icons: 18th Century art
Aug. 15th, 2010 04:17 pmThis is a MASSIVE dump of icons posted in honour of two very special friends (you know who you are!) who both happen to share a love of the 18th century; I hope no one minds "sharing" a gift, as I am posting them publicly for the enjoyment of all my other readers! ;-D
I do apologize for the lack of my usual extensive noting of the artist and painting in my art posts, but to be frank, the vast majority of these I found without any names attached to them; therefore, I am in complete ignorance. Deciding it would be better to post them as unknowns than to never use them, I've thrown them in random order along with some other paintings whose artist and subject name (and, sometimes a date) I have endeavored to preserve in the file name (right-click>>copy image location, or right-click>>save image as).
The tags will give you an idea of some of the artists you can expect to see. ;-)
As always, never alter my graphics, comment, credit, and enjoy!
Teasers:
Please, if you take anything, be so kind as to take note of the numbers of the icon(s) you're saving, since I am always experimenting with my styles and I would like to know what people like best. (This helps me so I can make more!) The numbers are above the icons.

Date: 2010-08-16 02:40 am (UTC)They're so stunning, your coloring is just perfect and I love the cropping as well. Super job! *applauds loudly* I'm writing down the names of the artists so I can check out their work too. :D

Date: 2010-08-16 08:17 pm (UTC)Meliiiisssssssaaaaaa... :-P You can't quit!! And besides, you make good icons too, so THERE!
Thank you so much for all of your sweet and kind praise! You really are too kind. ;-)
Oh, yes, there are TONS of pretties to be had, especially for Pomeo Batoni. I LOOOVVEEE his work; it's so realistic. (I hate to say it but IMO he's better than Gainsborough or Reynolds at truly life-like portraits.)

Date: 2010-08-16 07:04 pm (UTC)I'll be uploading a selection to another LJ account I have, and also to my Dreamwidth journal/s, if that's OK with you. I'll credit, of course!

Date: 2010-08-16 09:05 pm (UTC)You are more than welcome to use them elsewhere; credit is the only requirement. ;-) Thanks for letting me know!

Date: 2010-08-16 09:02 pm (UTC)I saved 13, 15, 22, 29, 67, 73, 74, 83, 100, 103, & 104!
p..s. My follow up appointment was today, they took out the sutures and placed some sort of bandages that will wash off in 7 days. I have another appointment in 2 weeks, after that I begin my sessions with physical therapy. So far the doctor wants me to move my arm back to front in slow motion. I'm not sure what my therapy will be like, hopefully it won't be too painful.

Date: 2010-08-17 06:59 am (UTC)Ouch...sutures huuurrrrrt. *grimace* I don't know about therapy as I've never had it, but I hope it won't be too painful for you, either!!

Date: 2010-08-18 03:45 pm (UTC)You, kf_creations, visionsbeyond, elysium_22, & a few select select others including grain_de_beaute when she was here are my favorites!♥♥♥
Unfortunately not everyone appreciates Period Dramas & Jane Austen as we do.♥

Date: 2010-08-20 11:20 pm (UTC)Costume dramas (and JA turned me on to those in the first place) and art are why I came here -- I got an LJ because I wanted to make graphics of those things, so I don't see myself stopping any time in the foreseeable future. ;-)

Date: 2010-08-21 07:12 am (UTC)Did you make your icon? Because it is FAAAB! If that's anything like your own set that you have in progress, then I'm just going to ignore your self-depreciating remark!!

Date: 2010-09-01 10:42 pm (UTC)Do you happen to have a dreamwidth account? I'm trying to add as many of my LJ friends who have DW accounts to my DW reading list as possible, and I'd hate to lose your journal! Thanks.
no subject
Date: 2010-09-03 09:01 pm (UTC)And no, I don't have a DW account, and while I won't speak for the unforeseeable future, I don't plan on leaving LJ anytime soon. (If I did however, or if I got a DW, I'd certainly be sure to blog about it here!) ;-)
