Every government is a parliament of whores. The trouble is, in a democracy, the whores are us.

- P. J. O'Rourke

America has just herself soul for the promise of free handouts in the name of "humanity" and "charity". Rest assured these "freebies" will most certainly be bought with a heavy price. Nothing is free.

We've happily given the reins of this nation to ungodly, corrupt, and perverted men for too long. Now we are about to pay the price. God save us from ourselves.

Pray. Pray that this will swiftly be repealed as was prohibition and that liberty will once more be reinstated. Pray hard.

Did I not say in your previous post about this that I'd wake up one morning and find it's been passed? Well, it happened this morning.

Many states are going to file suit to have it declared unconstitutional to force people to buy healthcare. Whether it works or not remains to be seen. Let's just hope that it doesn't go into play in two years time so we have time to vote out Obama and all the democrats.

My husband feels that he will get voted out. Me, I think that as a country, the majority of people are still too stupid to realize just how bad this is. I pray I'm wrong.

It is unconstitutional. The FEDERAL government cannot force anyone to buy it. Wasn't it JFK who said, "Ask not what your country can do for you--ask what you can do for your country"? If so then why are forcing me to buy it? I won't buy it.

I hope many states file the lawsuits. I watched a video today on yahoo about what the new plan will mean for us. Great, they're going to do away with pre-existing conditions. If that's true, wonderful for me to get stuff I need. But I'm not so sure that will come about. We'll see.

Congratulations on being right -- though in this case I'm sure you'd rather have been wrong...

I hope they do file! I've heard speculation before on certain scenarios which might induce certain states to secede again...

Two years is a long time, and the American people have a lamentably short memory. :-/ I'm not sure if he'll get re-elected or not; it depends on how angry people are about his policies and whether or not they remember them. Then of course, there's who the Republicans put up against him...

Oh you have no idea how much I wanted to be wrong. *sigh*

More and more states are going to file, including Alabama, since all our representatives, including the democrats, voted against the bill.

Maybe the entire south should secede again. LOL!

Yeah you're right. I have no clue as to who will rise up to face Obama. I just hope he/she is amazing because that's what it will take to get Obama out of office.

I knew they would pass it. I knew it. It doesn't matter what the people say. The government just sticks their nose up at us. Throughout history terrible things have happened when a nation gives its government too much power. I see our nation going in the direction of destruction. And what are people doing?

Nothing.

All they're concerned about is the next episode of American Idol.

Yep! This will be the time to see if Americans are paying attention and don't re-elect these officials.

You know I do not approve of the graphic novel or the movie (nor did I like either), but one thing I did like about V for Vendetta was the quote that "a people should not be afraid of their government; a government should be afraid of its people."

I'm so glad we elected a bunch of people who would ignore the will of the People and trample all over the Constitution. Just friggin awesome.

"Though they’d like us to forget, we will remember the corrupt deals, the corrupt process, the lack of transparency, the deceptive gimmicks to game the CBO score, and the utter disregard for the will of the American people. That's a nice quote, but Sarah Palin is a politician and by definition, politicians lie and tell people what they want to hear in order to get elected. As I suspect her of planning on running for president in 2012, I'm not inclined to put any stock in her remarks on this current administration (or any other for that matter, since I'm not impressed with her powers of judgement).

Thank you for the comment! :-)

I confess, I'm a bit lost. I don't understand what is 'ungodly' or 'perverted' about the Health Care bill (sorry if I'm misunderstanding and you only meant to refer to our elected officials as such and not their laws). It is FAR from perfect, I'm uncomfortable with the idea of government fines or punishment if an individual chooses to remain uninsured, but I don't understand why some are reacting as if the passing of the bill will bring about the fall of western civilization. And many people support and have supported health care reform for years, I'm one of them.

Will it be expensive? Undoubtedly. Are taxes going to have to increase to pay for it? Definitely, no matter what they're telling us. But I don't mind that. If it means that lives will be saved, that fewer Americans are going to die every year because their insurance companies won't cover their treatment or that people will stop going bankrupt trying to pay their bills, I'll pay higher taxes. I firmly believe that access to good health care is something that every American citizens should have, regardless of their income.

This is the reason why many Americans are moving to Canada, The UK, Panama, Australia, New Zealand, etc...

The morals and values in our country are rapidly deteriorating. We were and still are the best country in the world but if we keep electing corrupt men to rule our nation then I fear that in furure we won't be.

"All that is necessary for the triumph of evil is that good men do nothing." (Edmund Burke)
