icons: Regency & Jane Austen

[olde_fashioned]

A very large and very random batch of Regency and Jane Austen themed icons from various icontests. Some of these are a bit old, since I haven't posted an icontest dump in quite a while. ;-) Nearly all of the Jane Austen adaptations are represented, some art and fashion plates of the period, and there is also a Pride & Prejudice journal header and a matching friends only banner.

As always, never alter my graphics, comment, credit, and enjoy!

Please, if you take anything, be so kind as to take note of the numbers of the icon(s) you're saving, since I am always experimenting with my styles and I would like to know what people like best. (This helps me so I can make more!) The numbers are above the icons.

#15 was adorable! The pics weren`t easy to work with but you did a simple and very creative job!

Awww, thank you so much! :-D I'll confess I get a particular amount of pleasure in working with fashion plates. They're so wonderful! And I adore paper textures, so that combines nicely. ;-)

That was from a regency_stills contest a while back, and IIRC it was from the cover of Amanda Grange's Mr. Knightley's Diary. It's not the cover of my copy, though, so perhaps it's an earlier edition? *shrug*

These are lovely!

I particularly like the cropping on 26, 34, 44 & 45. The last 10 (the plates) are gorgeous. You have a real talent for iconing this type of artwork.

And 47 is just perfect! Crop, colouring, text placement - everything! :D

Such a pretty batch! Don't know which ones I'll be snagging yet because I've yet to make up my mind! =P How long have you been making graphics? You use GIMP, right? That's the one I use and I'm struggling with text placement. How do you incorporate the right kind of text with your icons? I don't know why I have problems with the use of text, but it's really bugging me.

Yes, I use GIMP, and while I didn't have that in the beginning, I've been making graphics for about two years, as long as I've had this LJ. That's why I came here. ;-)

Text placement is a hard thing (if not THE hardest) to grasp, and I'm still not there yet. I'd be happy to try and help you along, if you'd like?
