Hi there -

As you most likely already know, you're an affiliate of obsessiveicons, which is why I'm contacting you.

I am one of the designers there, and I recently created a new community, called obsessive100. It's one of those "create 100 icons about a subject of your choosing" communities, but unlike most of them, it's not restricted to just topics from TV shows, movies, or the like.

I'd be glad to add you to as an affiliate to obsessive100 as well, if you're interested.

Does becoming an affiliate mean I have to participate? I've never tried a 100 contest before, and I'm not sure I understand the entire concept. I did read the rules, but the 50 themes -- would I have to use each and every one of them, or could I duplicate a few of them?

Even if I don't compete and it isn't a requirement, I'd be happy to add you as an affiliate. :-)

Becoming an affiliate doesn't mean you have to participate, but to answer your other question:

You would have to use each and every one of them, but loose interpretation is totally okay. For example, if you were having trouble with, say, "pure", you could go from "pure" like purified water to water to ocean to boat, or from "pure" like pristine to white to someone wearing white. There's no theme police or anything like that.

Also, there will probably be another theme list or two added in the future, so if you were really stuck with one list, you could do the other instead (but couldn't mix and match).

The point of 100 challenges is really to stretch your creativity, and icon something you really like iconing. There's nothing wrong with stopping 50 icons in if you are satisfied and happy with your work. No one will boo and hiss and throw rotten vegetables at you, or anything.

Again, you're not obligated to participate, but as someone else who just tried one (I'm at 35/100 right now), I would definitely recommend trying. =)
