The goverment won't override you unless you are doing something very wrong.
That is something that you are lucky to have seen so far; I believe that this is something that wouldn't last for very long if implemented in the US. Time and time again homeschooling families have been harassed and even threatened for taking their children out of (failing!) public schools, with no legal right or moral incentive to do so.
The heart of the issue, however, is that this would allow the government to define what is "right" without any input from the very people it is governing. The government is supposed to govern with the consent of the people, not under the guidelines conjured up by some international court.
Does it bother you people can't spank their children?
Nope. I got spanked as a kid, and it didn't hurt me any. I only got it when I deserved it, and I daresay I'm a better person because of the spanking. The Bible also says "spare the rod, spoil the child," and I think that's why a lot of kids today are horrible brats.
