Thanks to one of my readers, it has been brought to my attention that the dates and schedule for the PBS 2008 Jane Austen Season have finally been released! While both Pride & Prejudice as well as Emma are reruns of the '90s A&E versions, I am sincerely looking forward to this. :-)

Miss Austen Regrets stars Olivia Williams as Jane Austen, something which tickled me greatly upon first learning it. She played Jane Fairfax in the A&E Emma, and I've always thought she looked like she would make a good JA! Cooincidentaly Greta Scacchi (Mrs. Weston from the Paltrow Emma) plays her sister Cassandra.

Schedule:

January 13, 2008 - Persuasion
January 20, 2008 - Northanger Abbey
January 27, 2008 - Mansfield Park
February 3, 2008 - Miss Austen Regrets
February 10-24, 2008 - Pride and Prejudice (3 2-hour episodes)
Pledge drive, March 2-16; no films aired
March 23, 2008 - Emma
March 30-April 6, 2008 - Sense and Sensibility (2 90-minute episodes)

ETA: [livejournal.com profile] kari has just reminded me to post the official website. ;-) There is a sneak preview to watch there as well.

There's a new S&S? How did I miss that? I guess I need to read Austen Blog more frequently.

Thanks for the heads up about the PBS airings. By the way, here's the official site in case you haven't already seen it. Not much there yet, but I assume they'll post the schedule when it's available.

Ditto! I had to have the dates pointed out to me because I'm bad about keeping up with AustenBlog. They crack me up.

Oooh, thanks Kari! I'll edit my post and include it. :-)

I always forget to keep up with that blog! I love the writers. I'm definitely not as much of an Austen purist as they are, but their sauciness is contagious and quite funny.

I love their "snark" as well! Many a time I've been literally in stiches because of some smart little observation. :-)

I don't know how much of a Brontë fan you are, Kari, but have you ever visited Bronteana (http://bronteana.blogspot.com/)?

Yup! I love their site too (although, I'm sorry to confess, the only Bronte I've read so far is Jane Eyre. I was meaning to read Wuthering Heights this summer, but I've been more in the mood for light-hearted reading than tragedy.)

*raises hand* Same here! I loved Jane Eyre, and I really want to read WH, but somehow I don't expect to like it very much...
