olde_fashioned: (Lavoisier's wife Marie-anne by David)
[personal profile] olde_fashioned
I just changed my layout again...but this time I learned how to use a header!! I'm rather excited. (Silly, I know!) I made it myself, and it's from a detail of Antoine Laurent Lavoisier and His Wife Marie-Anne by David. I don't normally like David's paintings, (too many nudes -- yuck) but this one I like. ;-) I just love her costume, hair -- everything. ;-)

What do you all think?

Thank you! Well, I've been waiting until after St. Patty's was over to change mine. I've had it ready for a week! ;-)

Thank you. I love clouds!

Thank you!! You know, I used GIMP and some of The Glinted Brush's resources to make the header, so you kind of started this whole thing!! ;-) Thank you ever so much!!!

Very Good! I think you did very good! Where have I read that before with white dresses and blues sashes?

Oh, I do love your new layout! I wish I could do those sorts of wonderful things to my LJ. *sigh*

I really like it. I love the color blue so much! I guess now I know what's wrong with my new layout... it's too bright!

Oh I just saw the header! I used to use that phase so much because I'm such a crazy fan of Julie Andrews and The Sound of Music! :D

Thank you very much! ;-) It's a line from a song, actually. "My Favourite Things" from The Sound of Music.

Thanks! And I don't think there's anything wrong with your layout -- brights are fun! Now my St. Patty's layout....THAT was too bright. ;-)

LOL!! I've always loved that part of the song!! I'm a sucker for that movie, too. I'm not usually fond of musicals, but that's the best, IMO. :-)

First off I love your background! If I ever get over my computer torpidness then I would love to do such beautiful backgrounds.:)

I stumbled across your LJ and had to friend you as you have so many of the same interests.I want to why I only find such like minded people on the internet and not in real life?

I love your icon! I cannot wait for the new Jane Austen movies to come out!
Have you ever read any of Maria Edgeworth or Fanny Burney's work? They are no Jane Austens by any means but they are alright.:)

Thank you very much for both the compliments and the friending. ;-) May I ask how you stumbled across me -- I am just curious as to who's blog/which community gives me traffic.

To answer your question I think it is partly because similar people can congregate more easily online than in real life, and also there are the inevitable liars who pretend to be what they are not. Rest assured, however, that I am not one of the latter. ;-)

Glad you like the icon! That makes two of us who cannot wait until November. ;-) I have never read ME or FB, nor Georgette Hayer. I have read Jane Eyre -- have you? I'm also reading Wives & Daughters, which I saw in your userinfo. Have you read the book?

I was on my friend elvenjaneite site and saw your name (which of course caught my eye)and read some of your posts and decided to friend you.

Yes,it is hard to find people sometimes online and not help but wonder if they really are who they say they are.Of course I think it would be a pretty good impostor to feign to be interested in the things I like and keep.:)

Yes,I have read 'Wives and Daughters' and loved it,although I was a bit upset it is unfinished.:(
I am currently reading 'Nicholas Nickby' by Charles Dickens. Are you a fan of his as well?

I adore the Bronte sisters writings! I have read all of their works and love them! Have you read 'Shirley' or 'Villette' by Charlotte Bronte? They are both so good!

Thanks! I was just curious. ;-)

I'm enjoying W&D very much, but I've already seen the 2nd half of the mini-series, so I know how it ends. I was sad too to hear of it's being unfinished. Rather like The Watsons being unfinished by Jane Austen. So sad.

I have never read anything by Dickens -- are you shocked? ;-) I'm rather intimidated by how long and dull some of his stories are, but I know better than to judge a book by movies. ;-) I am going to start A Tale of Two Cities before too long -- I have to finish W&D first. ;-)

I loved watching Bleak House, though! Have you seen that?

I've only read Jane Eyre so far, but Agnes Grey (?) sounds interesting to me. I have a reading list a mile long -- so many books, so little time!!! You know how THAT goes. ;-)

Hello,
you don't know me but I came across your page on the 'austenicons' LJ. I adore your journal layout! I'd love to add a header at the top of mine but I don't have a clue how to? I'd really appreciate any tips.

Thanks!

The worst to have unfinished is a mystery as I made the mistake of reading Dickens unfinished work 'The Mystery of Edwin Drood' and he died before you figured out who killed him!

I love the movie based on 'Wives and Daughters'.
What is your favorite period film? Have you seen 'Our Mutual Friend'? I have not seen it yet but want to very much.:)

I just saw 'Bleak House' and liked it a lot! Have you seen 'North and South'? I love that movie.:)

Do read 'Agnes Grey' as it is my favorite and it is really short and so good!
Dickens is a bit challenging at first but I love him still.:)

What kind of music do you like?

These are a few of my favorite things?

Beautiful new layout; you know I love the lady in the banner. Huzzah wiggery! Reminds me of the VLB painting of Marie-Antoinette when she's wearing the simple white dress. V. nice.
From: [identity profile] olde-fashioned.livejournal.com
Thank you!! I was wondering if you'd like it! (much better than my last one, eh? *shudders at memory*) I did not know you loved Mrs. Lavoisier as well, but knowing you I am not surprised. ;-)

Wigs are splendid so long as they don't interfere with doorways...and now I'm off to look at VLB's MA again! ;-) I was going to make all my icons of women in white dresses with blue sashes, but I couldn't find enough images.

Oh, dear!! How frustrating! I shall keep that in mind, then, and perhaps avoid reading it entirely, so as to save myself irritation. ;-)

I love the Jane Austen's -- the '95 P&P and the Kate Beckinsale Emma are my two favourites, then S&S and Northanger Abbey. I also enjoyed Bleak House, W&D, and the new Jane Eyre.

I have not seen OMF, nor N&S -- I am going to read N&S after I finish W&D, and I don't want to spoil the storyline you see. ;-)

Alright -- yet another book on my enormous list. ;-)

Hmmm....classical, Christian, and Celtic. ;-) I love Celtic Woman, and I'm listening to clips of Hayley's new solo as I type. As far as Christian music goes I like Avalon, Rebecca St. James, Michael W. Smith, and classical I like anything that isn't too "loud" or trumpet-y -- Bach, Beethoven, etc. I can get you specifics if you like.

What about yourself?

Hello back to you,

Thank you for telling me where you found me -- that's usually one of the first things I ask. ;-) Glad you like the layout, but don't get too attached to it, because I am in the habit of changing it too often. ;-)

Are you asking me to make you a header, or help you put one on your journal??

Date: 2007-03-23 11:43 am (UTC)
From: [identity profile] enialadam.livejournal.com
I was wondering how to put an image I've already created into my journal as a header. I've worked it out now though.

Thanks! :D

I looked at your new image, and it's very pretty. Nice job. ;-)
