There stands Jackson like a stone wall!
More drawings! This time I did a couple of portraits of two Civil War Confederate generals. I am rather fond of both Thomas "Stonewall" Jackson and JEB Stuart, and since my brother is also a huge Civil War buff, and just happened to have magazines with good photographs of them on the covers, I decided to draw from them.
Warning! Fairly large images behind the cut.

I admit to a soft spot for the Confederacy (not the owning of slaves part) and recall visiting sites when I was young in the USA. Perhaps it was that sense of a bye gone era of elegance and courtesy a la the Regency here in the UK.

I feel exactly the same way. Sometimes when I think of the entire way of life that was lost due to the war, I get kind of sad. The South had almost it's own culture, and it's all but gone now. I never thought to compare it to the Regency, though, that's an interesting idea!

This is rather random, but ever think about becoming a book cover designer?

Um, not really, but I've always loved pretty book covers? Why, what made you think of that?

BTW, did you ever download Sarah Brightman's version of Scarborough Fair. I've just thought of another way you can hear it.

Nooo......*hides* I'm so scared of breaking any laws! But what's the other way? YouTube?

LOL!! Freaky? Well, that's okay. I'll be listening to her voice really. I've only heard her on the Andrea Bocelli's Romanza when she did a duet with him.
Oh, and I must warn you, I'll be loading it later, like tonight, since it takes like forever to load. Sorry! But I'll certainly come tell you when I've heard it. ;-)

Please do let me know! And let me know what you think. I think you'll find some people who commented on it who like Haley's version better.

I will, I promise! And as much as I love Hayley, I promise to try and be fair to Sarah, too. ;-P

You know, I recently watched a show on the French Revolution, and did you know the guy who painted it, David, later was responsible for the beheading of Lavoisier? The butcher!

Do you scan your art or take a digital picture of it?

I've done both, but these are photos since I think they seem to come out better. :-)

By the way, I went on a quest for pictures of this weekend's J.E.B. Stuart after I got home. Here are a few I found. You'll notice that this reenactor was actually too old to play Stuart, but he was such a sweet man that I overlooked that, as well as the absence of a hat or cape. ;-)

Oh yay, thank you!! *clicks* Hmmm, I think he looks an awful lot like JEB -- the shape of the eyes are the same, especially. What fun and what an honour to represent such great figures in history like that...

Maybe he was hot and got it trimmed. ;-D
