You were talking about the symbolism - the first thing that came to my mind was Inception 2 ! LOL! The poster looks very similar to Inception`s don`t you think? ;)

But yeah did you notice the similarity between this poster and the BB poster?

To me the poster represents the rising of the batman perfectly! Rising from the destruction and chaos . Rising against all the odds and hate !

I`m still scared Anne Hathaway is going to ruin this film for me though :-\

They've been calling this "Inception 2" ever since the casting was rumored!! LOL! It kind of is, but Nolan does reuse his actors a lot (just look at how many times he's worked with Michael Caine), and since he almost always* picks good talent, I won't complain.

Sans Anne Hathaway and Scarlett Johannsenn and Katie Holmes.

I DID notice that!!!!!!!!!!! Not that anyone's going to believe me, but I did--I even tried to make an icon with a poster from each movie, but it didn't work out. Meh.

To me it looks like a cross between the BB poster in my icon and in your link (I love that poster; it's my favourite!!), and also the TDK burning building poster that's on certain DVD covers.

Rising--yes!!! I put the keywords on my icons as "out of the ashes". That's kind of what it sounds like to me, so far (obviously we'll be able to speculate better once we've seen the trailer (crossing fingers for it on Friday w/ HP!!!!).

I know I'm worried about that too, but even if she's horrible, everyone else will be fabulous, so it'll just be like Katie Holmes all over again, LOL!

You know, I had seen where they said that the art was resembled the Inception movie poster. But I don't actually see it. Yeah, sure there's skyscrapers and it's kind of gloomy. That's all I see that they have in common.

Rotten and crumbling.

Do you think there's anything to the fact that the buildings (Gotham) are dark and at the "bottom" (base of the buildings), while the batsymbol is light and "up" (i.e., "looking up at the light)? Or am I just reading too much into it? ;P

Well, just going by my own perspective of "style", I'd suggest it's probable that Nolan is using the same designers/graphic artists for all his movies, OR he's having them all work in the same stylistic vein in order to have a "coherence" in the poster/promo art for all his films. There's a definite resemblance to the posters for most of his movies since Batman Begins (I'm not familiar with any of the artwork from anything of his pre-2005).

That makes more sense as to why it's such a big deal. But I still don't see what the big deal is. So, he likes continuity and coherence? Let him and let him be. Don't make such a fuss about it. Yes, I know. Some people were probably expecting something more original. It's not too much to ask. But they ought to have figured out by now what he likes.
