Sorry I've left this so long! Life has been crazy!
Inspired by our conversation I rewatched Cranford and even though this is probably the fourth or fifth time I've watched it I still got teared up!
I'm totally addicted to audiobooks! I usually have my favorites going on in the background constantly. At the moment I'm listening to Bleak House for the first time. Dickens has such wonderful plots!
Dickens does have very intricate plot threads that can be hard to explain in a one short scene, especially with all the extra "suspense" they tried to throw in.
I did and I LOVED it! <3 <3 Watched it twice in 3 days!
I really loved that Danielle was a very independent heroine, and actually fairly unselfish and mindful of others, unlike many independent heroines I've come across. And Henry wasn't a perfect Prince Charming (quite refreshing from the normal "Cinderella" movie).
It also gave more depth to the classic evil step mother ploy. Anjelica Huston was amazing and really made me (oh horror!) feel sorry for Rodmilla, even if she was very nasty.
Was the gown you mentioned the red and gold one? I admit I am shamefully underinformed on the time period in gowns.
And who could not love Leonardo Da Vinci as the fairy godmother?
I also watched Lost in Austen. I liked that one too except I didn't really appreciate the twists they put on the characters. Making Georgiana the bad guy and Wickam the innocent victim? My inner Austenite is cut to the quick! It was a good laugh though, the smolder and the pond scene had me snorting with laughter.
