I don't either, and I agree with you -- it's jarring. I think it was supposed to be a "look-how-fashion-forward-little-miss-snob-is". (I also think her hair is rather modern and trendy, in that horrid "pompadour" fad with a '60s-ish poof on the top half of her head.
