Just a note to everyone -- I'm currently having LJ problems, and I can't read any of my messages, and not all of the notices are coming through in email. So if I'm not answering you, it's not because I'm ignoring you! I most likely can't read it. *scowl* Is anyone else having this problem or is it just me?

As for my personal life, I'm STILL trying to kick this stupid cold!! It's been over a week now, and I'm still congested, but my throat is feeling better at least. Yay for Halls lozenges!

Last night we were having what we call a "wing-it" night for dinner, (translation: I'm too lazy to cook) and frozen pizza was the delicacy of choice. While taking it out of the oven, (I always use a cookie sheet to slide under the pizza, whilst keeping it in place with a metal spatula) I managed to burn myself across the knuckles on the wire rack, and drop the pizza topping side down (of course!) onto the bottom of the freshly-cleaned oven. *sighheaddesksigh* It's partly my own fault for neglecting to wear oven mitts, since this isn't the first time I've burned myself baking pizza, but this particular pizza came out of the box with a broken crust, so that's another part of the reason it fell off the sheet. That and the fact that I'm just a big clutz.

I got really upset, since I didn't feel too great in the first place, and my hands were even shaking. Thankfully they aren't burned bad at all -- just a few red marks that should disappear eventually. My mom came to the rescue and cleaned up the mess I'd created, and wasn't mad at me at all, and Spencer was happy to eat the topping-less pizza, insisting he liked it that way. We made another pizza, and this time I let my mom take it out! Afterwards I consoled and calmed myself with chocolate chip cookies and CSI: Miami.

Congratulations if you've read this far! You have great patience, and are able to tolerate boring nothingness posts with relative ease. Thanks for letting me vent.

(note to self: OVEN MITTS!!!)

I burnt my knuckles on the oven like that once. The skin all sizzled up and everything. Ouch!

Ouch, that does sound painful! Your burn was a lot worse than mine!

Ouch! Sorry you burnt your hand on the oven. Been there, done that....except it was near my elbow. Yeah, I was taking out some cookies and my arm hit the oven door. I had a gross bubble on my arm for at least a week.

My sister once absent-mindedly took a cake pan out of the oven without using a potholder or oven mitts.

Thanks for the comment! The other time I burnt myself making pizza I got it on the forearm, and I had a blister for a long while, and I still have the scar.

Yep. That's similiar. But mine didn't leave a scar which is strange. But I guess that's a good thing. Is it something you wish you could get rid off?

Do you mean am I self-conscious about it? No. It's pretty faint, and it's right next to a freckle (I don't have many!) so I don't think it's that noticeable. I'd much rather be rid of a scar on my back, from having a mole removed. ;-)

Well, I guess I wasn't implying self-conscious of it. But I guess it is in a spot that it wouldn't be noticed anyway. The reason I asked was--I don't know if you knew about this--there are some creams that will help fade scars and even stretchmarks. Like Vitamin E cream. It was hard for me to find, but my pharmacy had a small tub of it--over the counter!

Oh, okay. That's sweet of you to share that! I have seen it in stores, although I've yet to actually purchase some. ;-) I think it's Palmer's brand -- right? I really like their cocoa butter lotion and the olive oil one, too.

I don't know what brand it is. But I do believe that Cocoa butter can do the trick also.

Oh, don't feel bad I've burned and spilled pizza before. (But I don't have your courage of not using an oven mitt!)

Sorry for your cold...I'm just now getting over mine.

LOL! Thanks for letting me know I'm not alone, but I fear it's not courage, but rather a foolish oversight on my part.

Join the club...I think most people are sick right about now.
