I agree with everything you’ve said here, though I saw it twice in theaters (which, for me, is like most people seeing it twenty times) and preordered it. I also own the soundtrack and have played some of the music on the piano. However, because of the historical inaccuracies, and the director’s conscious decision to tick off Janeites, I tend to criticize it quite a bit. I think that it is Pride and Prejudice, but only because I think the characters are generally well-done. The overromanticism is just not Jane Austen.
As for Bingley in Jane’s room, I nearly howled in fury in theaters when that happened. However, to be fair, the 1940 P&P did that as well, and the 1983 and 2008 S&S also do it. I still think it’s kinda lazy.
