This was unbelievably fun...I knew it would be, but it surpassed even my expectations. ;)

The lovely and creatively talented [livejournal.com profile] winterlillies was kind enough to shepherd me in my very first icon battle!

We both picked 15 images each and exchanged our images for a total of 30 images resulting in 30 icons. The first 15 images were chosen by me and the last 15 by her. (The gorgeous header is also by her!)

Loads and loads of icons just sitting on my hard drive collecting dust, so here is one of the many upcoming batches I am planning!

Three of my (many) favourite costume dramas are North & South, The Last of the Mohicans, and Lorna Doone. Each one has a great romance and gorgeous but not flashy or "distracting" costumes, set off by exquisite scenery and musical scores. What's not to love? ;-)

Just a little something I've been working on (and have just finished, yay!), and thought you all might enjoy. :-)

Fresh from Round 1, my entries for the Last Icon Maker Standing contest [livejournal.com profile] costumelims. ;-) A bunch of various costume-related themes are all featured in this post, including but not limited to Jane Austen quote icons, the movie Ever After, one each of Pride & Prejudice 2005, North & South, Lorna Doone, as well as a few duplicates because sometimes I made multiples before deciding which to enter. ;-)

olde_fashioned: (N&S -- true love (train car kiss))
In honour of Singles Awareness Day St. Valentine's Day, and you can partially blame [livejournal.com profile] spikesbint and [livejournal.com profile] kf_creations with their recent N&S batches, for getting me in the mood. ;-)

Lots of black-and-whites and alternates, (and two wallpapers!) and I went overboard on the kiss again...just a little...*halo* But who's gonna complain?? If this scene doesn't do it for you, then you're either not human or just not romantic.

Forgive me for seemingly cluttering up your flist, but I couldn't resist. All of you costume drama fans, indulge me here for a minute, and pay attention!

While watching the extras on my brother's copy of The Dark Knight, I was astonished to recognize a familiar face. I've taken a few caps for show and tell, so let's see how many of you can guess who he is! (and I'm screening comments only to prevent others from peeking first and then guessing, mwahahahaa...) Very good! Most of you guessed correctly that the person in question is William Houston, better known as Boucher from North & South. ;-) I've unscreened the comments, now.

Obviously if you haven't seen the costume drama in question, you're probably not going to know who this guy is, but I'm going to keep quiet about his name until someone gets it right! ^-^

For the record, the two-disc TDK includes extras filmed like CNN-style news and interviews, only renamed "GCN" for "Gotham City News", and of course, with all the stories pertaining to the theme of Batman. ;-) It's really amusing to watch, but this took the cake. ;-P You can see some of the "breaking news crawl" along the bottom of the screen on the second cap.

If you want to look for yourself, it's under the "Gotham Tonight" section, and the episode/interview entitled "Escalation."

A massive batch of costume drama wallpapers, ranging from Pride & Prejudice 2005, the BBC's North & South, Jane Eyre, Emma, Lorna Doone, and 1950s fashion.

As ever, do not claim these as your own, please credit/comment if taking, and enjoy!

It is a truth universally acknowledged, that any person in possession of a computer, must be in want of a wallpaper. )

More North & South! ;-D There are a few more icontest entries, and again I was trying to make most of these look fairly "gritty", but there are some that aren't. Due to some delightful new textures I've been experimenting with those, as well. ;-)

Reason? What kind of reason?! Mr. Thornton go down there this instant and face them like a man. )
olde_fashioned: (N&S -- Thornton look away)
But I simply couldn't resist. ;-) For those of you not familiar with The Republic of Pemberley, they have a very amusing board where people may post pretending to be fictional characters asking Pride & Prejudice's Lady Catherine de Bourgh for advice, rather like a Dear Abby column. Then others must reply as a Jane Austen character, any character from any of her stories other than Lady Catherine and Mr. Collins, and give silly advice back. It's quite humourous, and the other day I simply could not abandon the idea that popped into my head one day. ;-) I already posted this at RoP, but I'm sharing here for all of you to enjoy.

[Note: don't read this if you want to avoid spoilers for the book and mini series of North & South -- it's loaded with them!]

So! Ladies and Gentlemen, without further ado, I bring you A foolish passion? )

The first challenge for [livejournal.com profile] ns_stillness has now been posted HERE. :-D I hope those of you who enjoy icontests and North & South will join in!

36 icons of the so-wonderful-it-can-never-be-iconed-enough North & South. This time I've got a few icontest entries in there, as well as one of Higgins and Bessie. I was really going for a "grittier" look this time, since the story is so serious, and the setting rather "gritty" in itself. ;-) I love that about this story, how the world can be dark and ugly and scary but there still can be things as beautiful as love and friendship, as Christian values and moral people who still try to do the right thing.

olde_fashioned: (N&S -- a summer's romance)
I've been rounding up all the various images that have been collecting in my files, and so this time I've got 8 different wallpapers to share. :-D There are various ones of both adaptations of Pride & Prejudice, as well as one of North & South and several different fashion plates.

As ever, do not claim these as your own, please credit/comment if taking, and enjoy!

olde_fashioned: (S&S2 -- Marianne)
A miscellaneous batch of costume drama icons that I made for various icontests, including both versions of Pride & Prejudice (1995 and 2005), both versions of Sense & Sensibility, (1995 and 2008), both versions of Northanger Abbey, (1986 and 2006) as well as some from North & South, Emma, Becoming Jane, Amazing Grace, Lady Jane, and a few others. I couldn't help myself. ;-) Nineteen icons and three Friends Only banners of the wonderfully beautiful North & South starring Richard Armitage and Daniela Denby-Ashe. I finished watching this again tonight, and I was reminded of why I love this movie so much. ;-)

100 icons of the wonderful and gorgeous North & South that I made for the [livejournal.com profile] obsessive100 themed icon community. For those of you unfamiliar with themed icons, half were supposed to fit a predetermined list of themes, and those icons are housed in each applicable slot. (Please note: the theme/numbers are ABOVE the icons this time)

As always textless icons are not bases. If planning to use any of my work please do unto others as you would have them do unto you. ;-) (i.e., credit and comment!)

Comments are appreciated as I really excercised my creative muscles for this batch and I'd love to know what you all think.
You 'ave to look 'ard... )
olde_fashioned: (N&S -- hands)
I've just given my profile a bit of a make-over! ;-) Not so much the text as the graphics and color scheme...feedback and opinions are welcome! I think it might still need some finishing touches, but I'm really pleased with the graphic I made. I was making it for a new layout but I decided to keep Marie-anne Lavoisier for now. ;-P

Speaking of graphics, I also had to make myself a North & South love banner, which I'm posting here to share with my fellow Margaret and Thornton fans! (comment and credit as usual, please)

As requested by two of my lovely readers. ;-) A banner of Molly Gibson reading from Wives & Daughters and a banner of the rejection scene from North & South.

A rather large batch of icons this time, of the wonderful and beautiful North & South with Daniella Denby-Ashe and Richard Armitage. I've been experimenting with my styles, so please let me know which ones you like. :-) Comment, credit, and enjoy!
