I haven't liked the way things have been turned topsy-turvy in my life of late, and that includes LJ. Apologies for not keeping up with things like I should! I hope to be getting back to where I was before here soon. :-) In the meantime, I'm starting up my Painting of the Week series again.

Feel free to discuss and/or drool! ;-P

This one pertains to this day in history... )

Not as "costume-y" of a painting this time, but I kind of fell in love with it, lol. I could dream up all sorts of scenarios for this one!

A much earlier gown this time, with a bit of an autumn flavour to it. ;-) My favourite aspect of this one is the blackwork on her chemise!

I'll be willing to bet very few of you have heard of this artist! (and if you have, then I'm duly impressed, lol) I'm not sure what I love most about this painting. Her dress, or her shoe resting on the footstool...

Well, it's all but unanimous. My proposition of a "Painting of the Week" series on my blog was very well received with 50 votes for yes. ;-) I know it's impossible to provide "gems" each and every week, but I certainly hope to find some things that not everyone, myself included, are familiar with! I love finding new paintings to admire. So, without further ado, here is the first...

I've been thinking about this for some time. Would anyone be interested in a sort of "Painting of the Week" series on my blog? I come across a lot of artwork while browsing for icon fodder that other people might enjoy looking at, and it might be fun to post a painting a week, or at least I think so. :-)

I'm principally interested in the costumes and clothing depicted in the paintings, myself, so obviously this would mean things more akin to Gainsborough rather than Picasso. ;-P But I do enjoy discovering lesser-known historical artists, so I would try to do that as well.
